This much-loved musical has featured Broadway greats like Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Silly and sweet it sets us in the Medieval Age with knights and ladies in waiting and waiting and waiting. The kingdom is cursed and until the prince marries, no one else can!  A mute king, a talkative queen, a lady, a knight, a minstrel, and the mischievous members of the court must get the latest Princess (Winnifred/FRED for short) through the royalty test or they may all end up single forever!! 

Once Upon a Mattress was set to open March 13th, 2020- the day the Earth stood still and a pandemic swept all performances under the rug for 2 weeks, or two months, or two years.  Seniors playing the parts graduated and then so did the juniors. We only have five members left from the original cast and only two have the same role. We were blessed to have our set stored (through our generous district)  and reassembled by our wonderful set designer, Mike Hamilton, and his hard-working crew.  

It honestly broke my heart that Thursday that feels like a decade ago. But now we understand the phrase, “The show must go on!”  We have brought the musical back to life with a different cast, a different tech team, and with a renewed appreciation for the freedom to perform we took for granted. We're back! We're ready and set to Break a leg! Enjoy the show!
