The Internet is Distract - OH LOOK A KITTEN! is a comedy by Ian McWethy produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

Micah only has forty-five minutes to finish her paper on The Great Gatsby. She just needs to check a few facts on the internet first. Unfortunately, the web is a nefariously wacky place where boxing cats, Russian spies, and competitive streaming services threaten to take over Micah's schoolwork, or worse. Will she finish her paper and escape with her life before the school bell rings? A high-octane comedy that explores the rabbit hole of distraction we all go down every time we go online.

There will be a 15 minute intermission during the show. Our snack bar is CASH ONLY. You can also purchase CANDY GRAMS to send backstage to your favorite theatre student.

Simi's Theater Department is run by our very own Shanda Bonn (AKA Madame Bonn, also the SVHS French Teacher).  The department participates in various events over the school year including: DTASC Fall Festival/Competiton; a class exclusive fall production; an open audition spring musical; and spring showcase. 

This year at DTASC, we finished with Honorable Mention in Set Design and took home the 5th place trophy in the Small Group Acting-Best Picture Nominee category for our rendition of Disney-Pixar's Up! This year's spring musical is ADDAMS FAMILY. Anyone can audition! Pick up an audition packet in Room D6.

Drama Club meets Fridays during lunch with over 20 active members, with students from both inside and outside of the theatre class. We play theater games and serve as a production team for the shows.

Our program is completely self-supporting. All funds through fundraisers, ticket sales, snack bar, etc., help us pay for performance rights ("royalties"), script rentals/purchases, the musical director stipend, tech costs (sets, props, costumes, lighting, sound, etc.), field trips to see professional theatre, and workshop fees for visiting artists.
