About The Day the Internet Died

Hilarity ensues in the small town of Bloomington when the internet goes down - for a whole week! Pandemonium! The Day the Internet Died is a satirical look at society's dependence on technology and social media. It pokes fun at the behaviors that have developed in the technology-driven world we have all become accustomed. The Day the Internet Died explores how inept we are at dating, research, and basic human interactions without the aid of our devices.

New Bern High and our Theatre Program

New Bern High School has a student population of about 1,700 kids with about 165 staff members. In 2018, the school was recognized as an AVID School-wide site of Distinction, and in 2022 the school earned the distinction of being awarded the status of National Demonstration in School. New Bern High is one of 217 schools recognized by AVID as a National Demonstration School.

New Bern High School's theatre program has been fortunate enough to have the talents of former director Willie Sumner (1990 - 2017), Ezra Brain (2017-2018), and Aaron Williams (2018 - 2023). Our school's newest director, Sheri-Lynne Estes, is a graduate from California State University, Long Beach. She has taught for thirteen years as an English teacher until the current school year. Once her own children were old enough to allow her to take on the demanding schedule of a theatre director, she seized the opportunity to teach the subject for which she has the most passion. She has been in Rivertowne Players' production of Sister Act in the role of Sister Mary Patrick, Queen Lilian in Shrek the Musical, and Mrs. Santa/Perfume girl in Elf. That last one was “Faaaaabulous!” She currently serves on the executive board for Rivertowne Repertory Theatre, New Bern Civic Theatre's Saax Bradbury Teen Players Committee, and is the Eastern NC Regional Representative for NC Thespians. This summer she will be working with her fellow NBHS staff member, Kelly Edwards, as co-directors for Rivertowne Players production of Blithe Spirit. She would like to thank her right-hand man in life and backstage, her husband, Bill Estes. She would also like to thank her mentor, Aaron Williams, and many other extremely talented theatre folks in the New Bern theatre community.
