Angela Gelfand (Dancer)
Angela began her dance training in Anne Arundel County at the Dance Academy of Severna Park and The Dance Collective. She has attended summer programs at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City and the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. After receiving her bachelor's degree, Angela furthered her dance training at Anne Arundel Community College under the direction of Margaret Russell. Her performances have included repertory and original works choreographed by Paul Taylor, Phil Orsano, and Nathaniel Hunt.
Angela Stein (KDT Board President, KDT Instructor, Dancer)
Angela Stein has worked with Kinetics since 2007. Her formal dance training began in classical ballet with Carol Maxwell and the Ellicott City Ballet Guild. It has expanded to include Broadway jazz, tap, musical theatre, and contemporary dance over more than thirty years of continued dance education. Angela’s dance experience also includes choreography of musicals such as Annie, Anything Goes, and Cabaret with various Baltimore area theaters, where she also performed in numerous productions. She is also an avid yogi and Licensed Massage Therapist.
Cara Rakes (KDT Instructor, Dancer)
Cara was born and raised in Charles Town, WV, where she began dancing at the age of 9. She trained in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Modern and Lyrical. She began teaching in 2012 and has grown to now teach in all age groups from Creative Movement, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary Modern, Tap, Ballet, Adult Fitness Classes & Yoga. She began dancing with Kinetics Dance Company in 2021 and teaching with Kinetics Dance Theatre in 2022. She graduated with her Associates of Arts in Dance at Hagerstown Community College. She loves being a mom, wife, and dance instructor. She plans to excel in her career as a dancer and dance instructor.
Casie Curry (Choreographer, Dancer)
Casie started off as an understudy in KDT and is now finishing her full first year as a company member. Leading up to this, Casie specialized in ballet and modern and received the Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship at the University of Maryland. During her undergraduate studies, she found a deep love for choreographing and storytelling through dance. She appreciates the opportunity to reimagine her old piece, Blood Moon, with KDT and being a part of the company.
Emily Gibbs (Dancer)
Emily is grateful for another season dancing with KDT (this year is somewhere around 15). With the encouragement of a childhood dance teacher and the support of her parents, Emily received early training in ballet and modern at the Baltimore School for the Arts and summer dance intensives. She continued training at Butler University and UMBC where she performed with Phoenix Dance Company (now Baltimore Dance Project). Emily graduated from UMBC (Psychology) and McDaniel College (Community Mental Health Counseling) and has worked in a variety of roles to promote family and community health. Emily taught various styles of dance, mostly ballet and modern, at Kinetics and through the area for about 10 years and is joyous that all 3 of her children have shared her love of dance by taking classes at Kinetics.
Gretta Zinski (KDT Instructor, Dancer)
Gretta is a contemporary dance artist who graduated from UMBC in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, the Fillmore in Silver Spring, two American College Dance Association Conferences, and annually in UMBC Dance Department showcases during her undergraduate career. She now dances with the Kinetics Dance Theater Professional Company and creates a variety of pre-recorded and live contemporary dance works. She explores site-specific, multi-media, and dance film ideas in her work. Currently, Gretta works as a personal trainer and specialized dance coach to help young dancers, and anyone else, reach their performance and/or fitness goals to live a happier, healthier, and fulfilling life!
Gwyneth Watson (Choreographer, Dancer)
Gwyneth Watson (They/She) is a Junior at UMBC, majoring in Dance with a double minor in Acting and Entrepreneurship of the Arts. They have been dancing at Kinetics Dance Theatre since the age of four. They performed with the Student Ensemble for nine years, and the Kinetics Dance Company for two years. They were accepted into UMBC’s Linehan Artist Scholars program and are enjoying studying the interdisciplinary arts. They choreographed “Simultaneity” for UMBC’s First Works concert, and notably performed in Artistic conversations with Misty Copeland. Gwyneth’s love of theatre and acting has flourished while attending college, as well as their interest in choreographing dance. They are training to work professionally in the fields of dance, acting, and musical theatre. They hope to give back to the performing arts community by curating meaningful artistic experiences and providing inspiration for others.
Jessica Mayer (Dancer)
Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from James Madison University, where she was a member of the Virginia Repertory Dance Company and Contemporary Dance Ensemble. She toured and performed with the Virginia Repertory Dance Company from 2016-2018, where she was able to work with many notable choreographers from the academic dance world and beyond. She has presented choreographic work for the American College Dance Association, as well as at several JMU dance concerts, and has taught ballet and technique classes throughout her career. Jessica has been dancing as a member of Kinetics Dance Company since 2022.
Julie Mimms (Dancer)
Julie is happy to be joining KDC for her fourth season this year. She appreciates that KDT gives her the opportunity to build relationships and do what she loves. Her favorite styles are contemporary and jazz. When she's not dancing, Julie does local musical theatre and works full time as clinical mental health therapist.
Leroy Dugan (Dancer)
Lee is absolutely stoked to be a full member of Kinetics Dance Company! He's been part of Kinetics' community for many years, but started performing as a guest artist in the Company as an Apprentice member of the Youth Ensemble. As a second-year Linehan Artist Scholar at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, he continues to explore dance by performing student works and choreographing for events. He's proud to have performed a KDT alum's work on the ACDA stage in March, 2025. Kinetics has been a major part of his artistic growth, and he is thrilled to contribute as a member this season.
Megan Olivola (Choreographer, Dancer)
Megan has been dancing since she was 3 and has studied a wide variety of styles including ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, tap, and West African. She attended Lehigh University where she obtained a BS degree in electrical engineering with a minor in theatre. Megan has been a company member of Kinetics Dance Company since 2019 and feels incredibly fortunate to have a creative outlet and supportive community.
Melissa Nibali (KDT Board Member, KDT Instructor, Dancer)
After local recreational programs, Melissa began her formal dance training at Kinetics Dance Theatre. She graduated magna cum laude from UMBC with a BA in Dance. Melissa has taught dance for over 15 years, in a wide variety of styles, for all ages, with the start of her teaching career in 2008 at Kinetics. In the past, she served as the School Director of Kinetics Dance Theatre’s School of Contemporary Dance as well as a Director for the KDT Student Company (now Kinetics Youth Ensemble). Melissa also served as Studio Manager and Student Company Director of Design In Motion Dance Studio for six years. Kinetics has always been a large part of her life and she is thrilled to serve as a teacher, dancer, and board member.
Pamela Humeston (KDT Instructor, Dancer)
Pamela Smith Humeston has been teaching, choreographing, and performing modern, contemporary, improvisation, and ballet for over 50 years. She performed with the Conservatory Ballet, the Dance Dimension, Improvisations Unlimited, Kei Takei’s Moving Earth, Koshin, UMD Improvisational Dance Company, Blizzard Dance, and multiple independent choreographers. In 1984, Pamela performed internationally with the Dance Dimension as a United States Delegate at the International Cultural and Performing Arts Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria. Pamela attended the University of Maryland, College Park on a Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship in Dance and graduated with a BA in Dance. She was awarded an Undergraduate Apprenticeship for Art and Dance Research from UMD in 1989. Pamela performed in New York and studied Louis and Nikolais, Graham, Limon, and Hawkins techniques. She obtained a MS in Dance/Movement Therapy in 1995. Pamela returned to Maryland in 1997 and worked as a Dance Therapist at Kennedy Krieger School. She received her AA in Nursing in 2007, and a MS in Nursing Education in 2017. Pamela is currently the Nurse for Howard County Infants and Toddlers Program. Pamela has been teaching at Kinetics Dance Theatre since 2019 and performs in the Kinetics Dance Company. She enjoys spending time with her family and pets.
Phoenix Schofield (Dancer)
Phoenix has danced since she was 3 years old. She has mainly studied ballet and modern but has also done a variety of other dance forms. She started her dance training at Carroll County dance center at a young age and recently received her degree in dance from Howard Community College.
Ren Reiter (Production Assistant, KDT Instructor, Dancer)
Ren started their dance journey at Kinetics Dance Theatre at the age of 3, training in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, and lyrical, and took part in the Student Companies until they graduated from the program. They have obtained two Bachelor of Arts degrees: Dance, and Psychology. During their time in university, they have been a part of the Student Company at Howard Community College under the direction of Liz Higgins and Alex J. Krebs, and joined Kinetics Dance Company in January 2023, under the direction of Liz Quinones. Since graduating, they have continued to elevate their training, by taking up aerial silks and ballroom dance, taking classes from notable professionals such as Valentin and Chmerkovskiy.
Samantha Oliver (KDT Instructor, Dancer)
Samantha Louise Oliver was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland where she began dancing at her local dance studio, Dancers Dreams, at the age of four. She continued her training at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), earning her Associate of Arts with a concentration in Dance. During her time there, she was an apprentice for AACC Dance Company under the director of Lynda Fitzgerald and Rachel Scarringe. She then attended Slippery Rock University (SRU) to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography and Studio Ownership and Dance Entrepreneurship. At SRU she performed in guest and faculty works by Teena Marie Custer, Jennifer Keller, Nora Ambrosio, Melissa Teodoro, Ryan McMullen, and Lindsay Viatori. Samantha has also presented and performed work for SRU Freshmoves Showcase, Emerging Artist Concert, Limitless: A Senior BFA Dance Concert, and Through it All: A Senior BFA Dance Concert. Additionally, Samantha has attended various summer programs including FORGE Summer Dance Intensive and Bates Dance Festival Professional Dance Program. Currently, she is an educator and choreographer in Maryland. As a choreographer, her movement creations and artistic direction are inspired by street dance and the athleticism of contemporary floor work.
Sharon Trivino (Dancer)
Sharon Trivino was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida and received her early training from American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet and Boston Ballet as a scholarship student. Sharon graduated with a BA in History from Princeton University, where she performed the works of Regina Nejman, Kraig Patterson and Ze’eva Cohen. After graduation she performed professionally in New York with White Wave Dance, ZviDance, and Kazuko Hirabayashi Dance Theatre. She danced for several years as a member of the Amy Marshall Dance Company and TAKE Dance Company. Sharon has appeared in the film, “Center Stage,” and has performed at the Dumbo Dance Festival and the Certamen Internacional de Coreografia en Danza Moderna New York-Burgos in Spain. After transitioning from her professional dance career, Sharon earned her MBA from Columbia Business School and applied it towards an impactful career in development and fundraising. Thrilled and grateful for this opportunity to revive her passion for dance, she is especially grateful for the unwavering support of her husband Michael and three lovely daughters: Siena, Daelani and Joslyn.
Will Klotz (Dancer)
Will Klotz is from Baltimore, Maryland, and started dancing in Anne Arundel County Public Schools as part of North County High School's Dance Company. He attended UMBC where he was a Spanish/German major and a dance student of Liz Walton. She encouraged him to attend the Paul Taylor School in New York and then later, Los Angeles where he has performed many Taylor works. In college, Will also performed with Howard County Ballet for one season. After college, he studied Mexican folk dance in Chiapas, Mexico with the Ballet Folklórico of the Autonomous University of Chiapas as part of his Fulbright grant. Currently, Will is a teacher of Blind students with Prince George's County Public Schools and dances with Charm City Ballet and Peabody Adult Ensemble.
