AUDITION NOTICE: COME FROM AWAY

Join Riverhead Faculty and Community Theater as we build a meaningful theatrical community to tell this powerful and uplifting true story. We are proud to announce that we have been authorized to expand our cast to 21 actors, allowing us to better reflect the beautiful diversity of the real people stranded in Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001. We warmly encourage performers of all backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, and identities to audition. ALL ROLES ARE OPEN.

SYNOPSIS: Come From Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

What to Prepare & Bring

Please bring a hard copy of your résumé. Headshots are welcome, but not required. If you do not have one, we will take a photo during auditions.

Vocal Preparation:

Please prepare 16 bars of a song that best showcases your voice and bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.

Acting Preparation:

Be prepared to read selected scenes from the script. Sides will be provided at the audition.

Video Submissions: If you are unable to attend in person, we are happy to accept video submissions.
