Alex Cowsert (Robbie Hart)
Alex is so excited to finally be in The Wedding Singer. You may have seen him in “A Million Dollar Quartet”, “West Side Story”, “Newsies” or “Bright Star” at Town Theatre. Shout out to my Mom and Ashley Epperson. You know who you are!
Heather Hinson (Julia)
Heather Hinson is ready to rock back onto the Workshop Theatre stage as Julia Sullivan in The Wedding Singer!! Previous favorite roles include Alice Murphy (Bright Star), Gertrude McFuzz (Seussical), Jellylorum (Cats), Eponine (Les Mis), Ilona Ritter (She Loves Me), Janet Weiss (Rocky Horror), and Bar Wench Ancestor (Addams Family). She would like to thank her family and friends, mom especially, for their unwavering support and love. Now go find your person that will let you hold the remote control and grow old with you!
Charlie Goodrich (George)
Charlie Goodrich is thrilled to be on stage at Workshop in The Wedding Singer after first being cast in March of 2020. He was last seen on stage here as Michael in The Boys in the Band. A native of Columbia, Charlie has acted and directed around the USA for several years. Recent roles include Two Gents (Thurio/Eglamour), King Lear (Gloucester), The Crucible (Rev. Hale), The Philadelphia Story (Mike), Company (Paul), and Buddy in The Buddy Holly Story. By day, he is the Theatre Teacher at A. C. Flora High School. He thanks Jocelyn, Michael, Mandy, and Jeni for this opportunity! Love to Jimmy, Daniel, Rusty, and all of his family and friends.
Jessica Roth (Linda)
Jessica Roth is an experienced musician with an extensive background performing in both musical theater and with bands of various genres throughout her career. Jessica began her musical career performing in various high school musicals. After high school she moved to New York and began performing in off-Broadway shows. While in New York, she trained at Ripley Grier studios. In 2007, Jessica began performing with corporate entertainment bands. After the birth of her second child, her family moved back to SC. In 2019, she started Girl Interrupted, a 90’s and 2000’s cover band that performs regularly around Columbia. In addition to her music career, Jessica also is an accomplished hairstylist in Columbia. She is an international hair educator with Framesi and frequently travels to teach other hair stylists around the country. She spends her free time with her husband, 2 children, 2 dogs, and her iguana.
Josh Kern (Sammy)
Josh Kern was last seen as the Irredeemable Guard in the Color Purple.... so now it's time for something completely different! He is proud to bring the ham, spam, glam, and jams of the Wedding Singer to the stage at last. Now that St. Elmos "Dumpster Fire" has somewhat subsided, youre invited to have the time of your life. A Navy Veteran, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Trustus Theatre Company member, he owns "Just What You Kneaded" Mobile Massage Therapy, and Works full time as Lead Therapist at "Aquarius Spa" in Chapin. Some of his previous showings have been as "Cowboy" in Workshops "Boys in The Band" , "Rocky" in "The Rocky Horror Show", "Kyle" in "The Campaign", "Roger" in Rent, and "Clyde Barrow" in "Bonnie and Clyde: the Musical". He thanks his family and friends for their support, he thanks you for supporting local theatre, and he thanks Max Headroom for helping him "C-c-catch The Wave!!"
Mandy Applegate (Holly/Choreographer)
Mandy Applegate is so excited to be back on the stage at Workshop Theatre! Mandy studied musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC, performed professionally as a singer/dancer for Costa and Radisson Seven Seas Cruise lines, and was a singer/dancer/showgirl in casino shows all across the US. You may remember Mandy from past Workshop shows, in which she played Amalia in She Loves Me, Ulla in The Producers, Velma Kelly in Chicago, Lulu in Cabaret, and served as the choreographer for Young Frankenstein, She Loves Me, and our Fierce & Fabulous Cabarets. You may have also seen her at Trustus Theater as Cathy in The Last Five Years, Vampira in Plan 9 From Outerspace, or as Edith/Edie in Grey Gardens, which she also choreographed. Mandy was selected as a finalist for Jasper Theatre Artist of the Year in 2017. By day, she is a mother of two beautiful kiddos, and works as an actor and makeup artist for films and commercials. You can catch her playing multiple roles in the upcoming film Acorn by local filmmaker David Axe. Mandy would like to thank her village for making this possible and her cast, crew, and production team for helping to bring her 80's choreographic opus to life!
Richard Edwards iii (Glen)
Richard Edward iii is extremely excited to be making his Workshop Theatre Debut as Glen Gulia. Richard Edward is a stage & screen actor based in Columbia, South Carolina. Previous local roles include; Danforth “The Crucible” UofSC, Ebeneezer Scrooge in “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol” Trustus Theater, Tom Buchanan in “The Great Gatsby” Trustus Theater, & most recently John Miller in “Pouf” at Chapin Theatre Company. He is the Artistic Director of Studio Mayday. It is his mission to help his artistic community grow, and is an advocate for actors who struggle with the stigma of dyslexia, and ADHD. Special thanks to My daughter Cora Jean Calk for being the best 8 month old scene partner in the whole world.
Kathy Sykes (Rosie/Ensemble)
Kathy is thrilled to return to Workshop Theatre! Some of her favorite theater memories are on the Workshop stage to include Hairspray (Velma), The Producers & the beloved Young Frankenstein. Kathy didn't have to look up ANY of the references in the show, because she lived through the 80s! Special recognition goes out to my sister for paving the way with a can of Rave #3. Shout out to my parents for RENTING a VCR and letting us watch Girls Just Wanna Have Fun 13 times in one weekend. And finally, this performance is dedicated to my love, Kelly, for making me feel as young and cute as I was in Mrs. Elmore's class back in 1986.
Meredith Brooks (Ensemble)
Meredith Brooks is excited to be back on the Workshop Theatre stage! Meredith has enjoyed performing at different Midlands theaters over the past decade. Previous credits include Victor/Victoria, Steel Magnolias, and My Fair Lady.
Robert Bullock (Ensemble)
Robert (Bobby) Bullock, Jr. served 2 combat tours in Iraq as a C.A. Special Forces Officer and retired after over 31 years of service in the U.S. Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Robert also retired from the state’s police academy as a police instructor, and still serves as a State Police Constable over the state. He is a member of the SC State Guard’s PMD and was OIC of the Honor Guard. Robert majored in Law, Criminal Justice, Theatre and Dance, and has performed in many theatrical and dance performances over the years locally and nationwide. Among some of the roles he has performed are: Peter Pan, “Peter Pan”; Curly “Oklahoma”; Charlie Davenport, “Annie Get Your Gun”; George Bailey, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, Lieutenant, “South Pacific”; Edward Rutledge, “1776”, and George M. Cohan, “George M.” It has been quite a few years since Robert performed at Workshop, and he is excited to work with all! Thanks to Cherie for her love and support!
Emily Clelland (Cyndi Lauper Impersonator)
Emily Clelland is excited to break out the blue eye shadow and relive the 1980’s! She last appeared on the Workshop stage as part of the Fierce and Fabulous cabaret. Along with her love of singing, Emily is classically trained in tap, jazz, ballet, clogging, and pointe. Some of her favorite prior roles have been Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly, Bitsy Hargis in The Red Velvet Cake War as well as a featured dancer in Jesus Christ Superstar, Singin’ in the Rain, Spamalot, and Chicago. Emily has also filmed numerous commercials, worked regionally as a voice-over artist, and can be remembered as “over-night girl” Emma Lee on Oldies 103. In her spare time, she loves shopping, traveling, running, and CrossFit workouts. Much love to her fur-babies, family, friends, and especially Chase. George Dinsmore (Ensemble)
George Dinsmore has been rocking on Midlands stages since 2006, including Town Theatre’s The Buddy Holly Story (Ritchie Valens) in 2009 and 2010, Workshop’s Camp Rock (Brown Cesario) in 20212, Brilliant Traces (Henry) at the Newberry Opera House in 2017, and Likely Story’s Rock of Ages (Stacee Jaxx) at the Icehouse Amphitheater in 2021. He just closed Chapin Theatre’s completely sold out show Clue (Mr. Boddy) directed by his wife, Tiffany. You may have seen him on the big screen in Faith’s Song (Roger) in 2017, and he just finished filming The Naked Carpenter (Joseph) movie for New View Pictures. He hosted the Palmetto Weekend Outdoor Adventures web series in 2017 for WIS-TV, and has been the emcee for Lexington County Blowfish baseball since 2018. Tiffany Dinsmore (Cyndi Lauper Impersonator)
Tiffany Dinsmore (Cyndi Lauper Impersonator) is a girl who just wants to have fun! And she is going to have fun being on stage with her hot hubby, George, after just having directed him in CLUE. By day she is the supervisor of an afterschool program and also does substitute teaching when needed. By night, she works as the Artistic Director of Chapin Theatre. Let's put on some neon, grab that Aquanet and Pouf your hair and get your 80s rock on!
Lamont Gleaton (Ensemble)
Lamont Gleaton is a South Carolina native that is no stranger to the stage. He has entertained in multiple evening venues in North and South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia areas. He has participated in The Nutcracker with Columbia City ballet, contributed his MUA talents for several Vista Queen Pageants. He also lended his talents for At The Wake of a Dead Drag Queen with Trustus Theatre. He has appeared on stages at The University of South Carolina (Columbia, Aiken campus), Lander University, Columbia College. Lamount’s made is Workshop debut in The Color Purple and is happy to be returning with The Wedding Singer. He also devotes his time and talents with different organizations in the Columbia and surrounding areas to help raise money for numerous causes, and is currently the host of a local establishments for the Wednesday Variety, Thirsty Thursday and the Partytime Cabaret Show on Saturday nights. In addition, he has also been a part of the Miss South Carolina Pageant, Miss SC Plus World, Cinderella Tri-County, Miss U.S. Plus Intercontinental pageant systems and contributed time to SC Pride Organization.
Dell Goodrich (Ensemble)
Dell has been performing in community theatre since the age of 8. Favorite roles include Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show with OSP (which she also costumed), Margo in Backstage, Tammy Wynette in Stand By Your Man: The Tammy Wynette Story, Tanya in Mamma Mia, at Town Theatre, and Brooke Wyeth in Workshop Theatre’s Other Desert Cities. She’s thrilled to be back at Workshop and a part of this fantastic production with friends, old and new, and her favorite brother. By day, Dell teaches Social Studies online through VirtualSC.
Samantha Hansford (Ensemble)
Samantha Hansford is so excited to be back working at Workshop Theatre where she made her stage debut at 10 years old! This season of theater has been such a joy for Samantha as she got to perform the stage version of her favorite Christmas movie: "Elf: The Musical", sharing the stage with her daughter, who made her own stage debut, and is now performing in the stage version of one of her all-favorite movies. Samantha wants to thank the amazing cast and crew for making this such an "Awesome" experience and thank Nicholas and Elise for giving her no reason to "Question Their Love."
Amber Westbrook Kraus (Ensemble)
Amber Westbrook has a strong passion for the arts and community development. Amber Westbrook has a BA in the arts from Winthrop University with a concentration in Theatre and Dance Performance. She currently works at the South Carolina Arts Commission. Amber is also a performer, artist, and educator. She currently teaches acting classes at the Workshop Theatre Performing Arts School. This is Amber’s sixth show with Workshop Theatre. A few of her favorite projects include God of Carnage, Belles, Boys in the Band, The Friendship 9: No Fear for Freedom the Musical, and Neighbors: A Wildlife Show (Puppet Time Machine Theatre). She is honored to be a part of the Workshop Theatre family and would like to thank her family, friends, and incredible husband for their support.
Chris Kruzner (Ronald Reagan Impersonator)
Chris J Kruzner (Fake Ronald Reagan) - Chris is really happy to finally work with Jocelyn Sanders and Jeni McCaughan in his first Workshop Theatre play. He is a regular in the Midlands and has been seen as Newt Blaylock (Red Velvet Cake War), Horace Vandegelder (Hello Dolly), Boolie Werthan (Driving Miss Daisy), Cats (Bustopher Jones), Nicely Nicely Johnson (Guys and Dolls), Frank Butler (Annie Get Your Gun) and many other productions over the last 20 or so years. A big thanks to the Cast and Crew for making this such as great experience. A big thanks my beautiful wife Loretta for always giving her support. Remember to always support the arts and see a show.
Jada McGill (Ensemble)
Jada McGill is a 24-years-old interested in civil activism and being an advocate for children in need. In her spare time she sings, performs in plays and protests the rights of beautiful African American people like herself. Her ultimate goal in life is to be better than she was yesterday. This includes educationally, mentally and psychologically. Jada was last seen on Workshop's stage in The Color Purple.
Reygin Rainer (Ensemble/Dance Captain)
Reygin Rainer is excited to be back Workshop’s stage. Reygin has been active in theater and dance since age four and after moving to Columbia focused primarily in dance. She is a sophomore college student studying Social work with a minor in psychology and hopes to work as a school social worker upon graduation. She would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her through her journey back to the stage and would like to give a special thank you to Jeni, Jocelyn, and the entire creative team for the opportunity to return to her passion.
Brandi Smith (Ensemble)
Brandi Smith (Angie/Ensemble) is excited to finally be back on stage at Workshop Theatre. Brandi attended the University of South Carolina. She is excited for her next adventure with Rugged Luxe picnics and glamping. Brandi has been an avid member of Columbia's theater community for many years and has worked on over 50+ productions in the area. Some of her favorite roles include Next Fall (Holly) at Tustus, A. L's Wild Party (Madeline True) at Workshop, Suessical (Sour Kangaroo) at CCT, Great American Trailer Park: The Musical (costumer) and Heathers (Stage Manager) both at Trustus.
