About Annie Jr.
Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure.
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Woodland Middle School
Since its inception, the Woodland Middle School Theatre Department has been dedicated to providing audiences with quality productions and students with the outlet to express themselves and grow as people and performers. Mrs. Margaret Hall and Mrs. Margie Wineman-Chaney led a wonderful program that was unfortunately cut short in 2020. After their retirement and a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Woodland Middle School Theatre returned in 2022 following the hire of Miss Newman as the full-time theatre teacher. While she was left with some pretty big shoes to fill, Miss Newman has always strived to put on shows that would make her predecessors and students proud. This year, we are proud to also have Ms. Bond on board as our full-time choir and general music teacher. She has already proved a wonderful addition to the Woodland family and has elevated this show in ways that audiences can only dream of. Next year's season will be announced on April 7th following the closing of Annie Jr.
