Sex Talk & Swearing: 4 short comedy plays by Matt Herman Creative

Original Creative Team

Playwright, sets, props, and all around helpful human:
Matt Herman
Matt credits much of his early inspiration to his friendly and enthusiastic instructor, Gus Edwards, whose encouragement helped shape his path as a writer.
His work history is as varied as his writing, but he has always returned to the stage plays. In 1994, his play The Lost Faculty was performed by the Unlikely Theatre. More recently, Matt spent a decade evolving a single concept: what began in 2010 as a story about teenage vampires titled Vampires of Tempe High underwent numerous iterations before transforming into Ghosts of East High, a poignant drama centered on a fictional school shooting.
In the last three years, Matt has shifted his focus toward short plays, which are currently being produced by Virtual Theater Lab at the Main Street Creative Arts Center. While he acknowledges the role that inherited resources and privilege have played in bringing his work to the stage, he is most grateful for the collaborative nature of the medium. To Matt, a play is not truly born until the actors and directors bring the characters to life.
He hopes you find his latest collection of short plays, Sex Talk and Swearing, both amusing and entertaining.
