Mario Vega is a playwright/lyricist/digital artist from Southern California. He is a graduate from San Diego State University and is currently obtaining his MFA in playwriting at UCLA. He has written the book and lyrics to four full length musicals on top of multiple plays. His work explores Latino identity and the borderlands through lenses of satire and fantasy. Andrea Morin Fernandez
Andrea Morin Fernandez is a San Diego/Tijuana based freelance theatre artist. Andrea's transborder experience informs all of the facets of her artistic work. She holds a double major in Theatre Arts and Spanish from SDSU. She has been a part of Las Fotos Project, the Borderclick photography collective, the Transfronterizx Alliance Student Organization, and Amigos del REP, a theatre council that promotes Latinx theatre in San Diego. Jesus Hurtado is a Scenic and Projection designer for theater, film, and live events. He received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theater Design from The University of Southern California, class of 2022. Jesus’ recent works as an associate or assistant designer includes: The Outsiders (Broadway, Jacobs Theater), Redwood (La Jolla Playhouse), SUMO (La Jolla Playhouse), Destiny of Desire (Old Globe Theater), The Ants (Geffen Playhouse), Summer 1976 (Manhattan Theater Club), and The Harder They Come (The Public Theater). Some of his own designs includes, Pasale Pasale (WOW Festival, LJP), Mary Poppins (Village Christian School), The Red Suitcase (The Broadwater), Arsenic and Old Lace (VCS), and Singin in the Rain (VCS).

Carmen Amon is a proud Queer Chicanx Costume Designer in the Greater San Diego area.She has been working professionally as a Freelance Costume Designer since 2016. She graduated the same year with a Bachelor's Degree in Theater with an Emphasis in Costume Design from San Diego State University.Her designs have been featured at the Old Globe’s Globe for All, the La Jolla Playhouse’s POP Tour, San Diego Repertory Theater, MOXIE Theater, New Village Arts, Junior Theater, San Diego State University, Southwestern College, Pacific Ridge School, as well as Passage Theater in New Jersey and Urbanite Theater in Florida.

He also has been active as a director, actor, designer, and craftsperson in local and regional theatre. The Ion Theater in “La Gaviota” and “Elliot a Soldiers Fugue”. The Old Globe Theater in “Night of the Iguana”, “Comedy of Errors “, “White Linen”. Alex Ayala
Born and raised in San Diego, Alex Ayals is a self-taught freelance artist specializing in wet and dry mediums. Alex creates Art that is fueled by women, introspection, and finding beauty in sadness. She paints figures entangled in color and varying line weights to express the tumult and joy of existing in this brief and finite space. Like many others, Alex uses Art as a therapeutic tool for self-expression and to process the world around her.

Dr. Antonio De La Garza
Dr. Antonio Tomas De La Garza is a writer, community organizer, and professor of Chicano Studies specializing in community-based interventions in the Borderlands. Dr. De La Garza’s commitment to peacebuilding extends to cross-border initiatives in Tijuana, MX. He has successfully written and administered grants addressing chronic violence targeting migrants and refugees. He has received recognition for his work, including the 2021 Dr. Cliff Harkens Distinguished Service Award (Northern Arizona University), the 2019, 2021, and 2023 CSU President’s Award for Exceptional Service.

Dr. Katie Turner
Dr. Katie Turner is a scholar-practitioner in theatre. She holds a BA, MA, and PhD in Theatre History and Dramatic Literature. This year marks her 6th year as a lecturer in Theatre at San Diego State University, and her first year as the new owner of the Meisner-Chekhov Integrated Training Studio in San Diego! She is also an experienced actor, director, producer, and playwright. In 2022, her play Iris and the Axe was awarded the “Outside the Box” award at the San Diego International Theatre Fringe Festival. Katie was the founding director of Turnkey Theatre from 2020-2023, which specialized in creating new interactive and immersive productions in collaboration with emerging artists in San Diego and beyond. She is excited to be working with TuYo Theatre again after her wonderful experience helping produce their 2022 production of On Her Shoulders We Stand.
