About Put On A Happy Face
We are proud to announce that the Strawberry Hill Players are able to present Put on a Happy Face as this year's spring musical! Different from a typical cabaret or musical, this production is one made up of various songs and dances performed by our very talented cast! However, all songs follow a specific theme, being: Hope. We wanted to give back to the community and bring some light into this very dark time, and what better way than through music? This production will be compiled of songs ranging from all different types of musicals; from Newsies to Wicked, and Hairspray to A Chorus Line. Moreover, this performance is unique as it will be performed outside in front of an audience, something we have never been able to do in the past and are extremely lucky to be able to this year. Audiences will be able to gather and watch their friends and family perform live for this first time in a long while. Given the circumstances we are beyond grateful to be able to perform this and had a video copy available to audiences, as this show is extremely special and unlike anything the Strawberry Hill Players have achieved in the past. Throughout the show the hope of a brighter day is emphasized and we hope all audiences will appreciate how much time and effort has been put into this extraordinary performance. Without further ado, we give you, Put On a Happy Face!
Stamford High School
The Strawberry Hill Players are the drama club at Stamford High School. We are composed of very talented actors, singers, dancers and all around wonderful people! (If we do say so ourselves) Our club includes both the theater sector, in which performers, our costume crew and tech troop put on plays and musicals for the community to enjoy, and SHIP, the Strawberry Hill Improv Players! Who bring hilarious sketch comedy to life in their productions! Each year we have five productions, including a fall play, a spring musical, senior scenes, CDA, and Knight of Cabaret. We have won awards at the Connecticut HALO competition in past years, including: 2019 Best Performance by a Cast in an Ensemble Play, for Noises Off, Best Comedic female performance in a Musical and Best Contemporary Musical for the Addams Family, and 2020 Best contemporary Play and best Scenic Design for Elephants Graveyard. We have also competed at CDA, The Connecticut Drama Association, in past years as well, where we bring a 45 minute piece to compete against other schools in the state.
This year, due to the circumstances, we will be having our fall project here, online for everyone to watch, rather than in our auditorium like we usually would. We are very proud to present this years spring musical, Put On a Happy Face!
