The Playwright

The creative mind behind the script for 'Surviving the Spotlight' belongs to Gregory A. Monk.  Greg originally wrote, directed and participated in this play in 2000 for what was then called IRRRP (Iron Range Regional Repertory Players.)

Greg Monk began his theatre career at an early age, dragged into the spotlight by his mother, who was a musical theater actress, opera singer, and church choir director. Greg got his first starring role in Peter Pan in 1978, and spent the next several years involved in musical theater as an actor, stage manager, and dabbling in set and costume design. He took a hiatus during his military career,  then returned to theatre in Minnesota after his discharge, performing in Fiddler on the Roof in the Twin Cities, then expanded into writing as well as acting and directing in Duluth (through Renegade Comedy Theater) and in VIrginia, with IRRRP, before relocating to Southwest Florida. He still enjoys a number of creative outlets, including writing, singing in a men's chorus, and graphic design.
