About Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening: A Children’s Tragedy” is German dramatist Frank Wedekind's first major play and a foundational work in the modern history of theatre. The play chronicles the tensions and confusion of young people as their growing awareness conflicts with the repressive social environment around them.

This adaptation uses dialogue, language, and themes present in Frank Wedekind’s original 1891 “Spring’s Awakening.” This reimagined production seeks to connect Wedekind’s turn-of-the-century play with current events and contemporary audiences.

CONTENT WARNING: Adult themes in this production include suicide, abuse, sexual violence, gun violence, abortion, strong language, and death. Many of these themes are presented abstractly. Suitable for 13+; parental guidance suggested.
