Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.
McCarthy Drama Club
McCarthy Drama Club is an after school club whose mission is to allow students the creative opportunity to express themselves in a safe and fun way. Students are introduced to the art of acting in order to develop an appreciation of the art and as a tool for self-realization. The Drama Club offers participants the chance to experience the excitement and rewards of theater arts while developing poise, social skills, confidence and the ability to work with others.
Our Annual Show is announced on the first day of the School Year, and Auditions are generally near the end of September. Rehearsals and Backstage activities run October through January, and the show usually opens the first weekend of February for 3 performances. It is open to all our 7th & 8th grade students, and we welcome students of all acting, singing and dancing ability to join us in creating a magical performance! In partnership with the McCarthy Backstage Club, we bring to life a fully licensed production for a community audience of up to 600 at each performance.
