About Belles
Belles is a full-length dramatic comedy by Mark Dunn. Told in "two acts and forty-five phone calls," Belles visits six southern sisters, who, over the course of an autumn weekend, seek to bridge the physical and emotional distance between them via the telephone, and in the process come to terms with their shattered family history. The gold standard among Mr. Dunn's many plays about southern women, Belles continues
to pack an emotional punch after many years of productions.
Belles is being presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. / www.concordtheattricals.com
Mason Community Players
Mason Community Players, Inc. was born in 1973. The group’s existence is the result of a challenge from a high school teacher to his students to find a need in the community and fill it. Sophomore Karen Terry, along with four of her friends, approached the Mason City Council, asked for, and received financial backing to begin a community theatre. The newly formed troupe presented The Music Man in September of that year.
In 1979, the group incorporated with non-profit 501c3 status. MCP has a long-standing tradition of presenting a major musical in the summer and dramatic productions in the fall and spring. The group has been pleased to present more than 140 productions for the benefit of Mason and its surrounding area.
MCP is proud to stress its middle name. The troupe is a community, serves the community, and stresses community. MCP strives to present quality theatre balanced with a welcoming atmosphere that allows everyone in the community an opportunity to experience theatre. MCP is a proud member of ACT Cincinnati, Inc. and the Ohio Community Theatre Association.
Mason Players is proud to be presenting live theatre in its new venue, the Mason Community Playhouse, located at 5529 Mason Road, Mason, OH 45040. Come visit us there!
