Wave Cast

Dahlia - English (Mia De Leon)
Mia is very excited to return to the Teatro Leyden stage as Dahlia, a role she has literally been waiting to debut for 3 years. Mia is a Senior at East Leyden and has been on the Leyden stage since her debut as a waitress in “Guys and Dolls”. Mia is also a member of Leyden’s International Thespian Society and is the Leyden Player’s Secretary. Mia’s most recent appearance was last spring in the outdoor production of “Blood Wedding” (Bride). Other appearances include: “Powerline” Giberta/Mom, “The Land of Forgotten Toys” (Nikki) and Espiritu de Hispania. Mia truly hopes to make the most of her final year on the Leyden stage. Mia would like to thank her family, friends, and fellow cast members for always supporting her and for joining her along her journey. (thanks Mom and Dad for being her Uber driver).
Diego - English (Armani Gennell)
Armani is ecstatic to finally debut Diego. Originally cast in very same role as a freshman. A junior at West Leyden it feels as if Armani has almost devoted his entire high school acting career to this role and he can’t wait to finally show everyone. Armani most recently appeared in Teatro Leyden’s production of “Blood Wedding” as The Groom. Armani has been on the Leyden stage since the very beginning of his freshman year playing Herb Jacobs in “Junie B. Jones”. Other credits include: “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”(Chip), “Ah, WIlderness” (Tommy). Armani is also Vice President of the Leyden International Thespian Society and the President of the West Theatre Guild. Armani would like to thank Mr. Bavone for giving him this amazing opportunity and letting him tackle this role multiple times. Lastly he would like to thank his family and friends for always being supportive.
Dahlia - Español  (Daniela Castro)
Daniela is overjoyed to debut Dahlia in this World Premiere. A junior at East Leyden Daniela’s pat credits include: Blood Wedding, Land of Forgotten Toys, Ah, Wilderness and more. Outside of school Daniela enjoys dancing, reading and playing her violin. Daniela would like to thank her mom for helping her memorize her lines. She also would like to thank her fellow cast members for supporting and encouraging her through her first lead role.
Diego - Español  (Angel Morales)
Angel is super excited and honored to be in the cast of Teatro Leyden's Wave. A junior at East Leyden Angel has been a part of "Blood Wedding", "A Pair Of Christmas Carols", and the Wave audio drama. In his first starring role, Angel is eager to give it his all and even more excited for the new experiences awaiting him with this play. He would like to thank his Spanish Teachers and Mr. Drobny for making this role a possibility.
Tia - English (Julia Aragon)
Julia is beyond grateful to have the opportunity to play a leading role in “Wave”. Julia is a sophomore at East Leyden High School and loves to play piano, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. While no newcomer to the stage this is Julia’s first foray into non-musical theatre. Julia’s most recent appearance on stage was in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” (Truly). Julia has also done multiple musicals with her middle school, her favorite being “Mary Poppins Jr.” as Mary Poppins. Julia would like to thank Mr. Bavone and Vic for working so hard to make this all possible. Huge shoutout to her family and friends for being so supportive of everything she does.
Tio - English (Daniel Martinez )
Daniel is back at it again with Teatro leyden and is ecstatic to have the opportunity to finally perform this show. A Senior at East Leyden Danny has been involved since the early stages of Wave pre-pandemic, when he was to originate Marino but now he has opportunity to debut Tio. Daniel’s latest appearance was the once in a lifetime outdoor production, Blood Wedding (As Leonardo) This is Daniel’s final year of highschool, and possibly the final show he will do!! Who knows? Maybe the stage will still call him back one day. Daniel would like to thank everyone that’s been there for him throughout this production progress. His friends he chats with and practices lines with, his director Mr. Bavone, who is able to handle his rambunctious personality. And of course, Vic. Anyone can learn a thing or two from Vic, and Daniel learned a whole lot from him.
Tia - Español  (Jimena Ramirez)
Jimena is eager to return to the Teatro Leyden. A senior at East Leyden Jimena has been acting since the 4th grade and has been a part of the Leyden Theatre since the summer before freshman year as Gepetto in Pinnochio. Since that day Jimena has been a part in one way or another of every Leyden production since. Prior to the pandemic Jimena was cast to originate the role of Dahlia but time stands still for no one she is now very excited to debut this role. Her most recent Teatro Leyden appearance was as Mother in “Blood Wedding”. Other stage credits include: Harvey, Espiritu de Hispania, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and the titular role in Junie B Jones. Tech credits include: Diary of Anne Frank,Tut! Tut! Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Jimena is also the President of Leyden’s International Thespian Society Troupe. In the future Jimena would like to become a full time Carpenter/Scenic Designer. She aspires to continue theatre in the future whether it be in the acting or technical field. Jimena would like to thank the cast and crew for trusting her and bringing a bit more joy into her life every day.
Tio - Español  (Rodolfo Torres)
Rodolfo is beyond honored to return to Teatro Leyden. A junior at West Leyden Rodolfo has been a part of leyden’s theatre productions since Junie B Jones as Sheldon Potts. Prior to the pandemic he was cast to originate the role of Tio, after almost 3 years he is overjoyed to once again portray, and finally debut Tio in Leydens World Premiere of “Wave”. His most recent Teatro Leyden appearance was as Leonardo in Blood Wedding. Other stage credits include: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Powerline, Land of Forgotten Toys, Ah Wilderness. Rodolfo is the Treasurer for Leyden’s International Thespian Society Troupe. In the future he hopes to have the opportunity to portray more wonderful roles.
Amparito - English (Mia Herrera)
Mia is extremely excited to make her Teatro Leyden as well as her stage debut in this world premiere. Mia is a freshman at West Leyden and though this her first time acting on stage, she has always loved to perform and is grateful for finally being given this opportunity. Mia loves doing theatre, both acting and stage tech and hopes to try out for more plays in the future. Aside from being a part of Teatro Leyden, Mia is a member of Student Council, Speech and Debate. She would like to thank her parents for always supporting her decisions, and her friends for keeping her sane. Well, trying to at least.
Amparito - Español  (Danna Vera)
Danna is super excited to make her second appearance on the Teatro Leyden stage. A sophomore at East Leyden, Danna wanted to try something new last year, so she auditioned for “Blood Wedding” and was cast as the Servant. Danna never expected that she would like theatre but she was very wrong. She loves being back on the stage and originating this fun character. She would like to thank the cast for making her feel welcome and helping her in anything she needs.
Nena - English (Yamilet Garcia-Gaona)
Yami is absolutely thrilled to be part of this Teatro Leyden world premiere. A sophmore at East Leyden Yami got bit by the theatre bug in 5th grade. Yami’s past theatre credits include: “Blood Wedding”, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” (Jemima), and “Powerline” (Bartholemew). Yami has enjoyed every moment she’s ever had on stage and there is no place she would rather be.. She’s happy to have made so many memories with people she has met along the way.
Nena - Español  (Kathy DeJesus)
Kathy is delighted to make her Teatro Leyden debut in this world premiere. A sophomore at West Leyden Kathy was hesitant to audition but she is glad she overcame her stage fright and is now a part of this amazing cast. During her middle school theater career, she has been on the tech team for Aladdin Jr. and has been a part of the cast for Annie Jr, Peter Pan jr, and Alice in Wonderland Jr. She hopes to pursue her love for theatre for the remainder of her Leyden career.
Juana - English (Selma Duratovic)
Selma is honored to be a part of this amazing cast in this world premiere. A senior at West Leyden Selma most recently appeared as Death in “Blood Wedding”. Selma has been involved in the Theater program ever since her freshman year. Past credits include: A Pair of Christmas CarolsAh! Wilderness. Tech credits include: Harvey, Spirit of Hispana, and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Selma was also an assistant director of “Anne Frank” her sophomore year. Outside of theater Selma is the Secretary of Best Buddies and Speech Team, and a member of Student Council, Key Club, and West Leyden Advisory Board.
Juana - Español  (Desiree Morad)
Desiree is thrilled to be originating a part in a world premiere. A sophomore at East Leyden Desiree's past credits include: Ah, Wilderness and Blood Wedding in her freshman year. All of her acting experiences have been with Leyden Theatre. She wants to thank her director, for giving her the opportunity to be a part of such a powerful show, and her friends and family for being such a great support system.(and of course, Chloe and Ola’s parents for all the rides they’ve given her)
Don Fito (Christian Jimenez-Garcia)
Christian is beyond ecstatic to finally be premiering the role of Don Fito almost 3 years in the making. Christian is a Senior at West Leyden high school and has been acting on the Leyden stage since freshman year. His past credits include Blood wedding, Anne Frank and Espiritu de Hispania. Christian wouldn’t be the person he is today without Theater. He gives his thanks to all the amazing actors and technicians who have worked with him over the past four years and he would love to say thank you to his directors for giving him the opportunity.
Camera Woman (Grace Dillon)
Grace is extremely excited to make her Teatro Leyden debut in this amazing world premiere. A freshman at West Leyden Grace sings in choir, and is also a member of Operation Snowball and Student Council. Grace’s past credits include: Alice Wonderland, Peter Pan, Annie and Frozen all with Rhodes Elementary. like Grace would like to thank her close friends and family for supporting her through theater and other activities. She would like to thank Mr. Bavone and Vic for all of the help and support in theater, Grace has learned so much in such a short time but most importantly she learned how to use a screwdriver.
Reporter - English (Gabriela Rodriguez)
Gaby is excited to make her Teatro Leyden debut in this world premiere. A freshman at West Leyden, Gaby wanted to try something new and since she's a pretty dramatic person in real life, she gave this a try. In the end, she is so happy she chose theatre as the way to express herself and excited for all the new opportunities and memories that she will make in the theatre. Gaby is excited to learn new things, be part of more shows especially stage tech and be part of a great Leyden theatre family!
Reporter - Español  (Athiana Moran)
Athiana is extremely excited to be making her Teatro Leyden debut in this world premiere. A sophomore at East Leyden, Athiana was eager to get a taste of high school theatre, since last year was such a difficult year. Athiana has also done musicals with her middle school, those being Mary Poppins Jr. (Jane Banks) and Seussical Jr. (JoJo). She is extremely glad she auditioned for the show and is excited to make more memories with the very welcoming cast. She would like to thank her parents for encouraging her and all the new friends she's made for making her feel safe and welcome.
Marina - English (Rhiannon Dienethal)
Rhiannon is ecstatic to be a part of this world premiere. A junior at West Leyden Rhiannon had her first theater experience playing in the pit Orchestra for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". After that she was hooked and auditioned for every show Leyden offered. Past credits include: "Powerline (Orvis) and "Blood Wedding" (Maiden). Despite her lack of experience, She feels overjoyed to perform on stage and play a different character every time.
Marina - Español  (Madeline Medrano)
Maddie is very excited to be making her Teatro Leyden debut in this world premiere. She is a freshman at West Leyden and a member of West Leyden Honors Orchestra. Maddie’s past credits include: Frozen (Anna) Annie (Grace) both with Rhodes Elementary School. She would like to thank her friends and family for supporting her through this process. Maddie also wants to say “Bravo” to the entire cast, the techies, Mr. Bavone and Vic for bringing this production to life.
Macario - English (Oliver Prus)
Oliver is excited to be returning to the stage of Teatro Leyden and joining the cast of Wave. Oliver is in his junior year at West Leyden and has been a member of Leyden Theatre since freshman year. Past credits include: Junie. B. Jones, Anne Frank, A Pair of Christmas Carols, Tut Tut, Land of Forgotten Toys, Blood Wedding and most recently Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Oliver gives all the thanks to all the fellow actors and technicians from the past three amazing years and would love to give thanks to the directors who bring it all together.
Macario - Español  (Jairo Reina-Perez)
Jairo is relatively new to theatre making his debut last year in Blood Wedding (Groom) A man of many talents outside of theatre Jairo is a Leyden varsity wrestler. This being only his second play he is excited to work on a brand new show and have fun with everyone. He is thankful to have this opportunity and wishes everyone well.
Doña Chilo  (Gabriela Drozd)
Gabriela is very excited to make her Teatro Leyden debut in this world premiere production. A freshman at East Leyden Gabriella has been in other productions at other schools but is thrilled to be in her first high school show. Gabriela is thrilled and thankful that she got to have this amazing opportunity for her first show at Leyden to be “Wave”.
Dahlia's Mother - English (Stephanie Garibay)
Stephanie is extremely excited to be a part of the world premiere of Wave. A freshman at East Leyden she has not yet been in a play but is extremely excited to make her debut. She is also extremely excited to be in future plays as well. Stephanie was involved in basketball and soccer. Lastly, she would like to thank her family and friends for all of their support.
Dahlia's Mother - Español (Layla Diaz)
Layla is very excited to return to the Teatro Leyden stage and to finally perform Wave. A senior at West Leyden Layla has been with the Wave cast since the beginning when the pandemic cancelled her sophmore soccer season and she wanted to try something new. Layla’s most recent appearance was in the outdoor production of “Blood Wedding”(Muerte/Suegre). Layla also had the amazing opportunity to be Co-Director in the production of “Powerline”. As a senior this year is bitter-sweet for Layla remembering the first time they stepped on stage with their sheep head and feeling like that stage was home and never feeling more like themselves then when they are on the stage.Layla would like to thank everyone who has been there for them this entire time and remember all the amazing memories they have created together. They would like to give the biggest thank you to Mr. Bavone and Vic for everything they have done to make sure everything gets done in the best way possible, and for letting the theatre feel like home.
Police Officer/Foreman (Daniel Moshi)
Daniel is jubilant about being in the cast of Wave; as very few high school students get to have the experience of a World Premiere. A Junior at West Leyden, Daniel most recently was in the production of “Blood Wedding” as Father. Daniel has been a part of many other productions since his freshman year, including; Junie B. Jones (Mr. Scary/Dad/Student); Others include, The Diary of Anne Frank (Mr. Van Daan), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (William Barfée), and Ah, Wilderness! (Richard Miller). Following high school, Daniel would like to pursue the fine arts as an actor professionally. Daniel would like to thank Mr. Bavone and Vic for their hard work and efforts with this production. He would also like to thank his family and friends for all the support they have given him.
Mourner (Giovanna Fermin)
Giovanna is happy to make her Teatro Leyden stage debut in this world premiere. Giovanna is a freshman at East Leyden. She is excited to see the finished product of everyone's efforts to make this happen. This is her third year of theater but she is grateful for this role in her first year at Leyden.
Man (Alexander Surovych)
Alexander is very excited to make his stage debut. A sophomore at East Leyden Alexander always wanted to join theatre but had too much anxiety to ever audition. This nonspeaking role was a perfect fit to get him on the stage for the first time. Alexander enjoys writing in his free time and plans to write a novel in the future. He wants to thank his father and sister for always supporting him and helping him get where he is.

Diego is exhilarated to originate “Young Diego” in his stage debut. Diego is very excited to try something new and show everyone what he has been working hard on. Outside of acting he has an interest in cars and would like to thank his cousin Nicole for getting him involved and his family for being supportive.
Young Dahlia - English (Isabella Rose Ramirez)
Isabella is so excited to make her first official theatre debut. She never considered acting before but was encouraged to participate by family members. She can't wait to perform for the first time. Apart from being an actor she plays softball for Franklin Park Vipers. Isabella is also a Roblox fanatic and loves to hang out with her family and friends.
Young Diego - English (Szymon Holubowicz)
Szymon is a first time actor and cannot wait to originate the role of Young Diego. He was very shy at first but soon enough after a couple of rehearsals he was ecstatic to come see everyone. Along with being in the cast he runs cross country for his school. But he cannot wait to take a break from running and make his stage debut.
Bully (Vincent Bavone)
This is Vinnie's stage debut though if you ask anyone who knows him he has always been an entertainer at heart. Vinnie is a 3rd grader who is passionate about sports especially his first love, baseball. Vinnie would like to thank the cast for welcoming him as well as his family especially his mom for supporting him.
