It was just over 40 years ago that I started participating in the Lewiston Civic Theater. It was a big part of my life, and my entire family took part and our children were raised there. Perhaps the adrenaline rush of being on stage, or the sense of ensemble and being with like-minded people who enjoyed the craft, this theater holds memories that I will cherish forever. Proud moments like a perfect night or a well-delivered song, an extended run of a sold-out show, the growth of an actor or actress into owning the stage, complimented sets or lighting designs, extraordinary costumes, makeup, and a standing ovation for the cast and the orchestra are just some of the reasons we do theater. To those coveted roles granted by the director that you never thought would cast you in the likes of Carney in Biloxi Blues, Bernardo in West Side Story, Daddy Warbucks in Annie, Marvin in Falsetto Land, The Russian in the rock opera Chess, Pirelli in Sweeney Todd, Billy Flynn in Chicago, the Baker in Into the Woods, to hundreds of other fantastic characters you allowed me to play…Thank you! Gratitude from my heart to you, Fred Schiebe, for believing in me. To my amazing wife for putting up with my theater passion, being her own shining star on many occasions throughout our time at the Civic, and to our children who started on stage at the ages of two and five and are now thirty and thirty-three! To my parents, who shared every experience with me and helped direct, build sets, and any other jobs that needed to be done for free. To those that became my true theater family over the years. Your love and support have made me the man I am today. Through you, I realize I never needed a stage to feel like a star, you did that for me. Finally, I would like to dedicate this production to my brother, Chad Farrington, whom we lost two years ago. As brothers, we fought hard and loved hard, and our impeccable sense of humor kept our bond strong. We loved to laugh!!! So, this is for you Chad…hope you like it!
