Haley Johnson (Laveer Swan)HALEY JOHNSON is excited to be back at KC Melting Pot after joining the family in IS GOD IS and later returning for WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?. Johnson, an MFA graduate from UF, has previously been in productions such as Kansas City Repertory Theatre's THE RIPPLE, THE WAVE THAT CARRIED ME HOME, the Black Repertory Theatre's AFTER MIDNIGHT, and MCBITCHES at the Unicorn Theatre. Jackie Price (Janeen Earl-Taylor)JACKIE has had a passion for entertainment and performing arts since an early age! She takes pride in her part of creating memorable theatrical experiences for those in her community. Jackie received her training from the University of Central Missouri, achieving her BFA Musical Theatre degree, as well as the Tasha Smith Acting Studio. Upon completing her education, Jackie has been cast in various short films and theatre productions within the Kansas City Area. Jackie has appeared in Dominique Morriseau’s PIPELINE (Unicorn Theatre), Matt Cox’s PUFFS (The Coterie), and Tony Kushner’s CAROLINE OR CHANGE (Spinning Tree Theatre), and MARYS SEACOLE (Unicorn Theatre). This is Jackie’s eigth production with KC Melting Pot Theatre with her last seen in THE AMEN CORNER. She is so excited to be back and a part of this cast!
Maya Zayn (Babbs Wilkerson)MAYA ZAYN made her acting debut at KU and since then has continued her work in theatre and film. During her time at KU, she made her theater debut in Collective Rage as Betty 3 and starred in multiple student films such as SUPPORT GROUP, INTO THE FOG, and TAMMI TERREL. She has also had the pleasure of portraying Jocelyn in ONCE UPON A TIME IN FRANCE and performing in KC fringe as Power in MELANIN ‘N’ EDUCATED. You can also see her on your screens as the Birthday Girl for Community America Bank. She would like to give her thanks and gratitude to her loved ones who have given her continuous support, faith, and care throughout her acting journey. Babbs Wilkerson has been a meaningful role for her. She hopes to venture into stunt work and voice acting!
Jabrelle Herbin (Alisa Myers-Reynolds)JABRELLE HERBIN is a dynamic stage actress celebrated for her powerful performances in classic and contemporary Black theatre. She has starred in leading roles in A RAISIN IN THE SUN and FUNNYHOUSE OF A NEGRO, earning praise for her emotional depth and commanding presence. Jabrelle also originated the role of Tellulah in BAYBRA’S TULIPS, bringing the character to life with a rare blend of vulnerability and strength that solidified her as one of the most compelling voices in modern theatre. Most recently displaying her diversity in JAJA’S AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING.
Aalayah Norwood (Thelma Carlson)AALAYA NORWOOD has worked with companies such as Whim Productions, Rising Tide Productions, and KC Public Theatre! This is her fifth time with KCMPT and is honored to working with them once again. As an actress in Kansas city, Aalayah loves theatre and tries to stay as active as possible in the community. She graduated with her B.F.A. in Acting from Southeast Missouri State University in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. It was here that she developed her skill in shows such as A RAISIN IN THE SUN and THE THREE MUSKETEERS. Since then Aalayah has performed in SMILE with KC Public Theatre, The-Pop-Up-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named with Rising Tide Productions, and LAST SUMMER AT BLUEFISH COVE with Whim Productions. Aalayah was last seen on the KCMPT stage in JAWBONE CRACK QUICK!
Kim Crane (Panzi Lew McVain)KIM is a local actor born and raised in Kansas City. She is honored and beyond thrilled to be in another KC Melting Pot production with her last being in ‘NIGHT, MOTHER. Represented by Moxie Talent Agency. She believes strongly in the power of theatre to spark conversation and healing, and hopes this performance serves as a reminder that mental health matters and no one is ever alone. Jordan Nevels (Young Laveer Swan)JORDAN NEVELS is a Kansas City native and a 2024 University of Kansas graduate, she received her Bachelor's of General Studies Degree in Theatre Performance and Film and Media Studies. She made her professional theatre debut at The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City, portraying Ndidi in JAJA’S AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING. This fall, she starred as Pepper in THE MASK at the historic Folly Theatre. Jordan shines both on stage and screen, having written and starred in her senior capstone biopic, TAMMI TERRELL. Her versatile film credits include MABEL, AFTER MIDNIGHT, and TILT, along with notable theatre roles such as Cynthia in SWEAT and Rosie in CABARET. Her commercial work features campaigns for Coca-Cola and Helzberg Diamonds. Recognized for her outstanding performances in film, Jordan earned ‘Best Actress’ at the New York Onioros Film Awards and ‘Best Actress in a Thriller’ at the New York Best Actor & Director Awards. With a blend of talent, dedication, and creativity, Jordan Nevels is a rising star ready to shine. She’s grateful for her loved ones and gives all glory to God.
Zaria Redick (Young Janeen Earl)ZARIA REDICK is an actress based in Kansas City, MO. She is currently attending Avila University earning her degree in musical theatre. Her previous credits there include Sorrel Bliss in HAYFEVER and Lauren/Ensemble in THE FIRST DATE. This is her first production with KCMPT. Zaria would like to thank her mom for her constant support and encouragement. She would also like to thank her director for the opportunity to bring this story to life alongside such talented cast members. Zaria looks forward to sharing this emotional and impactful story with all of you.
