Elise C. Hanson is a multiple award-winning playwright and theater enthusiast, beginning her pursuit of the theatrical arts at the age of 6. She is an avid believer in accessible community theater and believes that there is true art to be found in the freedom of grassroots endeavors. She is a lover of comedy and all things absurd. Elise is amid a months-long run of her original serial play series, The Open Syrup, which she was commissioned to do for a local theater when their producer saw the award-winning run of The Secret Son of Hitler at the Fringe Festival. She has been a part of every aspect of theater since she was a wee lass, performing, writing, directing, producing, running around finding safety pins for actors, and writing theater criticism for various publications. Favorite roles include Hamlet in Hamlet and The Nanny in Baby with the Bathwater. This autumn she will direct and appear in Angels in America, Parts I and II as Harper Pitt. She would like to thank Andrew Slaughter for being her lucky star and her muse these last few years, as he was in all the plays that won all those pretty, pretty trophies.
