Hello!

We're a group of passionate artists who are excited to bring you a gripping and powerful production of The Motherf**ker with the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis. After a sold-out run at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in 2022, we're thrilled to continue telling this beautiful and provocative story at the Chain Theatre this August.

Why is this production so important? 

It's a story about love, betrayal, addiction, and forgiveness that will leave you feeling all the feels. Our cast features all Latino actors, and we're proud to bring our unique perspectives and cultural backgrounds to the stage. It's a play that will make you think, laugh, cry, and maybe even curse a little bit. So, get ready for a wild ride, folks!

Why this play? Why now?​

Let me paint the scene: a black box theater in the heart of New York City, a sold-out show, and an audience captivated by the raw and unapologetic exploration of addiction, love, betrayal, and forgiveness.

This is what we experienced when we first performed Motherf**ker at Stella Adler in front of our classmates and teachers. After it wrapped, we didn't want the story to end there. More people needed to see this.  This play is more than just a bold title - it's a story that's raw, real, and will stick with you long after you leave the theater.​

This production marks our introduction to the professional world - and we couldn't have picked a better play to showcase our talent and passion. We believe in creating work that challenges the norm and ignites conversation, and we think this play does just that.​ We want our audiences to see themselves in the struggles of the flawed, yet relatable characters on stage. We want to create a safe space where people can come together, connect, and leave feeling a little less alone. Plus, let's be real - who doesn't love a good "motherfucker" every now and then?​

The Motherf**ker with the Hat was developed at the Ojai Playwrights Conference and LAByrinth Theater Company.
 
Broadway Premiere: Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre April 11, 2011 starring Bobby Cannavale, Chris Rock, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Yul Vazquez.
 
First regional production: Theaterworks, Hartford, CT on October 14, 2011.
 
UK premiere: Lyttelton Theatre, June 10, 2015.
