No Laughing Matter Production Team
Stage Manager, Props Manager, Set Design, Graphics
Sam DavidSam David has managed stages in more dimensions than physicists care to acknowledge. Known for once successfully herding a flock of rogue rubber chickens during a performance, Sam's expertise in chaos wrangling is unparalleled. She keeps a secret stash of emergency props, including an inflatable cathedral and a jar labeled “Essence of Drama.”
Producer, Lighting
Wes DennisWes Dennis would probably prefer to be acting on the stage rather than operating behind it, but he's been roped into doing a fair number of tasks away from the GAC spotlight. His most recent acting roles include Snake (School For Scandal, Rude Mechanicals @ GAC), Malvolio (Twelfth Night, Laurel Mill Playhouse), and Doricourt (The Belle's Stratagem, RM@GAC). Catch him in Much Ado About Nothing (RM@GAC) in May 2025!
Lights, Sound
Colleen Dunne Colleen Dunne has been doing tech theater for a few years now and is thrilled to be continuing it at the Greenbelt Arts Center. She has done many high school productions at Century High School and was stage manager for the show John Proctor is the Villain at Roanoke College. She is excited to work with the cast and crew and hopes you enjoy the show!
Writer, Director, Set Design and Construction, Graphics
Jeff DunneJeff Dunne is the playwright and director of No Laughing Matter, and thrilled beyond words to be working with the Greenbelt Arts Center on the production. This is Jeff's second time directing one of his full-length plays (the first being another comedy, Hellbent). NLM is the third of six full-length scripts that Jeff has written over the past eight years, and this is its third time on stage (with a fourth following one week later outside of Seattle). The first and second productions were in Florida and Pennsylvania, respectively, the latter being the result of the play winning the 2018 Shawnee Original Playwright Series (which also resulted in it being a finalist for the Best New Play award by the Northeast Pennsylvania Theater Association). If one includes one-acts and screenplays, Jeff has written over 175 scripts, roughly two thirds of which have won over 150 awards and festivals and been performed several hundred times across four continents. Jeff's first published novel, Nexus, was released in March 2023.
Costumes
Hillary GlassHillary Glass designs costumes so enchanting that several have reportedly come to life and demanded speaking roles. She famously created a gown made entirely of shadows and whispers for a production of Macbeth. When not sewing with moonbeams, Hillary enjoys teaching workshops on "The Art of Dressing Like a Figment of Imagination.
Set Construction
Cassidee Grunwald Cassidee Grunwald had the honor to help with the construction of No Laughing Matter. She enjoyed working with everyone and being a part of a brand new play that her amazing friend wrote. Though she can usually be seen on stage or on film as an actor, she is happy to get these opportunities to show off her tech skills. To see more of her work, check her out on Instagram @cassidee.grunwald.
Stage Crew, Social Media Engagement
Janiah Kyle Janiah Kyle has recently joined the art of show business. Her broad interests allowed her to help in multiple areas. You may (or may not) see her backstage helping move set pieces and assisting in transitions. When not managing stage chaos, Janiah enjoys creating marketing campaigns that may cause spontaneous standing ovations.
Sound Design
Penny MartinPenny Martin is attempting to be of sound mind once again. I was recently a MAD (NASA Music and Drama Club) hatter (Costume Crew) and 1/2 of a flighty Miss Lark in MARY POPPINS and Sound Designer for THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST at GAC. Flying with the Eagles is my goal in NO LAUGHING MATTER. Meanwhile, enjoy your visit to the Egg Plant and book yourself a room at Hotel California. We'll leave the light on for you.
Technical Consultant
Liana OlearLiana Olear was last unseen at GAC stage managing The Seagull for the Rude Mechanicals resident at GAC, and will next be unseen stage managing their Much Ado About Nothing - see it in May.
Stage Crew, Costumes
Nina Rice Nina Rice holds the world record for fastest costume change—performed mid-backflip. Her backstage organizational system is so complex that physicists have compared it to the Large Hadron Collider. Nina insists that costumes have souls and can occasionally be heard whispering their dramatic desires to her.
Stage Crew, Set Painting
Iva Zicha Iva Zicha is rumored to have designed sets for plays performed by extraterrestrials. Her visionary work has included a fully functional time machine disguised as a park bench. Iva claims she can "see the future of plywood" and often consults with interdimensional beings on color palettes.
