No Laughing Matter Cast

Carly Brownstein (Angel Maglioni)
Carly Brownstein is thrilled to be making her onstage debut at Greenbelt Arts Center! She is grateful to the incredible cast and crew for making this such a fantastic experience. She sends a special thank you to her partner for his unwavering support and patience during countless hours of running lines.
John Cholod (Brit)
John is a retired federal employee who would rather mess around in theaters than play golf. He's drooled and cursed as a homicidal psychopath in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, presaged modern day pestilence as Leonardo daVinci in The P-Team, helped solve a crime in Towards Zero, tried to convict an innocent man in 12 Angry Jurors, and been an anguished but proud dad in Much Ado About Nothing. John is very thankful for the chance to work with Jeff and the GAC folks, and he hopes you find it very much a laughing matter.
Joe Downs (Special Agent William "Bill" Williams, Offsite Facilities Liaison)
Joe Downs is glad to be returning to the Greenbelt Arts Center as Agent Williams. He appreciates this opportunity to advocate truth and share important facts. Joe has worked at GAC with the Rude Mechanicals in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Brick) and Doctor Faustus (Various). You can also find him at the Laurel Mill Playhouse and Bowie Community Theatre, having most recently appeared as Tally-Ho Thompson in LMP's Wisdom of Eve. Joe would like to thank the cast and crew for their wonderful energy and also his parents for influencing his musical tastes from a young age.
Jessie Duggan (Tara Butler)
Jessie Duggan is excited to return to GAC where she was previously seen as Sarah in "The Toxic Avenger" and Mae in "Wild Party." Other credits include Annabella/Pamela/Margaret in "The 39 Steps" (MCP, VCC), Aggie in "The Games Afoot" (Cockpit in the Court) and most recently Sylvia in "Sylvia" (LMP). A huge shoutout to her amazing cast-mates and the entire crew for making this such a fun experience! She’s sending lots of love and gratitude to her Alejandro and better half Alex, as well as her family and friends for all their support!
Sean Eustis (Richard Frillman)
Sean Eustis is a veteran of the GAC stage and delighted to make his GAC “not Shakespeare” debut with this amazing and supportive ensemble. Favorite roles have been the Porter in Macbeth, Fluellen in Henry V, and the Gravemaker in Hamlet. His most recent and wildly varied theatrical work has been with Unstrung Harpist in Frederick, Laurel Mill Playhouse, Spotlighters Theatre in Baltimore, the Baltimore Shakespeare Factory, and the Rude Mechanicals in residence at GAC.
Dana Fleischer (Margaret "Maggie" Beecher-Sims)
Dana Fleischer is thrilled to bring this role to life. While this is Dana's first time on the GAC stage, she's no stranger to the local theatre scene. You may have seen her recently as Margo Crane in LMP's The Wisdom of Eve. Other favorite past roles include Elizabeth Bennett (Pride & Prejudice, LMP), Marian Jellicoe (The Absence of a Cello, BCT) and Ann Deever (All My Sons, BCT). She is grateful for this opportunity, and for the support and love of her friends and family.
Anne Hull (Spy)
Often found in the audience, Anne happily returns to GAC’s stage since playing the raging Abbess in Incorruptible. She recently played “Mrs Brill” in GSFC MAD’s Mary Poppins, “Dennis” in LMP’s The Play That Goes Wrong (being doused with water every time). Favorite roles include “Ouiser” in Steel Magnolias, “Mrs. Peacock” in Clue (so much screaming!), and “Miss Marple” in A Murder is Announced. Thanks to John C. and friends for your support. Come join the fun of making theater magic!
John Mathews (Alexei Dmitry Konstantin Nikolay Sergei Stepanovich)
John Mathews is excited to be in his first production with GAC and to be working with this incredible team! He is particularly happy that in the course of this production, he has become entirely fluent in Russian--being able to say three phrases (kind of, sort of) is fluent, right?. He was last seen as Holmes in Baskerville at Prince William Little Theatre. Other recent roles include Lloyd in Laurel Mill Playhouse's production of Noises Off, Arbuthnot in Murder on the Orient Express (RCP), Chris Bean/Inspector Carter in The Play that Goes Wrong (LMP) and Hannay in The 39 Steps (MCP). He would love to thank his family, especially his wife Linda, for their incredible support.
Andrew Rappa (Alejandro Hernandez)
Andrew is excited to make his debut performance at Greenbelt Arts Center! He would like to thank Jeff for trusting him to perform in this original literary baby of his and the direction to help make Alejandro the fun and funny character that he is. Andrew would also like to thank the rest of the cast and crew for their hard work making this production possible
Gene Valendo (Special Agent James “Jim” Humphrey)
Gene has appeared in 30+ productions with Maryland community theater companies since 2012, including shows at 2nd Star Productions, Bowie Community Theater, The Colonial Players of Annapolis, Annapolis Summer Garden Theater, Laurel Mill Playhouse, and Musical Artists Theatre, and is delighted to finally add Greenbelt Arts Center to that list. Favorite roles include Major Quimby in Bloody Murder, Dr. Hubert Bonney (Washington Area Theater Community Honors Award nominee for Outstanding Featured Actor) in It Runs in the Family, Henry Perkins in Funny Money, Horace Vandergelder in Hello, Dolly!, Juror #8 in Twelve Angry Men, Alexander Molokov in Chess, Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, the Musical, and Joe Keller in All My Sons (WATCH nominee for Outstanding Lead Actor). He has served as Producer, Set Designer, Lead Carpenter, and Special Effects Designer/Builder for many 2nd Star productions, and has been 2nd Star’s Treasurer since 2015. Gene received the WATCH Award for Outstanding Special Effects in 2017 and 2018, and was nominated in that category again in 2019.
