The Importance of Being Earnest Cast
Nathan Rosen (Lane )
is delighted to make his debut in a Greenbelt Arts Center production. He has acted in this space before. Most recently, he directed Twelfth Night at Laurel Mill Playhouse and played Richfield in Laughing Stock at Spotlighters. Last fall he played Mr. Bennet at Laurel Mill. He has also been seen at Cockpit in Court (Albert in The Dinner Party), Spotlighters (Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), and The Rude Mechanicals (Mr. Hardy in The Belle’s Stratagem, as well as roles in the Rudes' Dr. Faustus, The Tamer Tamed, Love’s Labour's Lost, and Uncle Vanya). He played Montague and directed Romeo & Juliet with Bard’s Wagon. He has directed more than 150 plays. Nathan has also acted with Classic Theatre of
Maryland and Howard County Summer Theatre, roles including Maurice in Beauty and The Beast, Brannigan in Guys and Dolls, and Mayor Shinn in The Music Man. He thanks everyone for their support, and apologizes to the dog.
Lucian Clarkewallis (Algernon Moncrieff)
(he/him) is excited to join his first GAC production after many years participating in the space with the Rude Mechanicals since 2017. Some of his previous roles include Demetrius in Ill Met by Moonlight (2023), Courtall in The Belle's Stratagem (2023), and Apemantus in Timon of Athens (2018). He has greatly enjoyed inhabiting Algernon, and hopes everyone enjoys the hard work the entire cast has put into this show!
Michael McCarthy (John Worthing, J.P.)
is honored to be making his debut performance with Greenbelt Arts Center. Previous credits include Thomas Putnam/John Willard in The Crucible (Dominion Stage), Giuseppe Zangara in Assassins (Silver Spring Stage), Ensemble/Monty (u/s) in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (Victorian Lyric Opera Company) and JD in Heathers (Rockville Musical Theatre). Michael earned a Bachelor’s in Music with an Outside Field in Music from Ithaca College. He would like to thank the amazingly supportive group of friends he’s found in the DC area theatre community for helping him build confidence in his abilities as a performer and for providing him with so many opportunities to participate in “bucket list” productions like this!
Sarah Schauffler (Lady Bracknell)
makes her first stage appearance in over 15 years at GAC playing Lady Bracknell. This is a full circle moment for her as she played Cecily in this same play in 1991 when she was just 18. Sarah is a full time English and Drama teacher at Frederick Douglass High School but her passion is acting on stage. Sarah was bit by the acting bug in middle school and performed in every play/musical in high school. She has been acting in community theatre shows on and off throughout her adult life but hopes for far less lengthy sabbaticals moving forward!
Jenn Robinson (Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax)
is excited to return to GAC after last appearing there as Karen Wright in The Children's Hour. She has also previously been seen recently as Ann Putnam and Sarah Good in The Crucible with Dominion Stage, Anne de Bourgh in Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley with Montgomery Playhouse (MP), and "Mayhem" Maggie Malloy in Sherlock Holmes and the American Problem with Kentlands Community Players. She has also done dramaturgy for shows with Maryland Theatre Collective, MP, and GAC. In her copious spare time, she drinks entirely too much tea and plays with the Society for Creative Anachronism's Shire of Roxbury Mill.
Celia Richardson (Cecily Cardew)
is thrilled to be making her GAC debut! Most recently, she played Snug and Cobweb in Midsummer Night's Dream at Silver Spring Stage. She also originated the role of Linda Davis in Wednesdays in Mississippi with Pipeline Playwrights. Previously, she studied theatre at the University of Maryland. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Cathy Barth (Miss Prism)
has been a professional singer in live and television productions for many years, and has performed widely onstage in musical and drama productions in the Washington area. Last seen at MAD as Desiree in A Little Night Music, Cathy has also appeared in other MAD productions (Sally in Follies, The Witch in Into the Woods, Anna in The King and I” and numerous others), and plays and musicals at venues including GAC, SSS, BCT, and The British Players. It is a joy to be back performing at GAC after a long absence! Always a pleasure to work with such talented actors and production staff here at GAC.
Stuart Fischer (Rev. Canon Chasuble, D.D.)
performs at GAC for the first time in nearly 23 years(!), but performed in six shows here between 1996 and 2002. Stephen Cox directed or co-directed him in three of them (Dromio of Ephesus in Comedy of Errors, Robert Chiltern in An Ideal Husband and Curio/First Officer in Twelfth Night). His other three GAC appearances were in The Man Who Came to Dinner (Beverly Carlton), A Man for All Seasons (Will Roper) and The Taming of the Shrew (Gremio). Stuart moved to Northern Virginia in 2008 and has continued to perform in many productions since leaving GAC. He received a WATCH nomination this year for Best Cameo in Mary Stuart at LTA and recently played Danforth in The Crucible at Dominion Stage (with two of the leads in this cast!)
Chris Dullnig (Merriman)
is in his 3rd show at GAC, having recently been in The School for Scandal and The Rudes Abide - A One-Acts Festival.. Previously, before a 30 year hiatus, he did community theater in Laurel, Adelphi, Cheverly and Bowie. Shows included A Christmas Carol (Jacob Marley), Anne Frank (Mr. Kugler) and Wait Until Dark (Mike Talman), as well as Godspell, 6 Rms Riv Vu, Barefoot in the Park, and South Pacific. Chris is very happy to be a GAC person and back in theater.
