When teenager Percy Jackson discovers he’s a demigod, he and his friends embark on an epic journey to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt and prevent a war among the gods. This dynamic rock musical is for Percy fans of all ages!

Empire Theatre is an award winning theatre department. Over the past 15 years, Empire has earned countless awards at regional, state, and national competitions. The theatre department has won state championships for One-acts and Mainstage shows (Including state One-Act Championships in 2022 & 2024), and in 2017 & 2019, they were named the #1 high school theatre department in Southern AZ. In 2021 they received the Governor's proclamation for Theatre in our Schools. And in 2022, their musical, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was selected as “Best Musical of Tucson”.

The theatre department is made up of a variety of acting and technical theatre classes. The Lightning Thief will feature the talents of students from all levels of theatre, as well as, students who are currently not enrolled in a theatre class.
