Many historians have studied the life of King Charles II and how he regained the throne from the Cromwell family, in what is now known as The English Restoration.  But few, if any, know how it really happened.  You see, King Charlie had the help of his Angels.  

As Cromwell took rule of England as Lord Protector, Charlie found the best fighters from the three countries he previously ruled.  From Scotland, Lady Kelly, a fearsome and strong fighter.  From Ireland, Lady Sabrina, a fighter in the battle of wits.  And finally, from England, Lady Jill…she has great hair. Their mission, should they choose to accept it, is to take Cromwell down and make Charlie king, once again. 

Empire Theatre is an award winning theatre department.  Over the past 15 years, Empire has earned countless awards at regional, state, and national competitions.  The theatre department has won state championships for One-acts and Mainstage shows, and in 2017 & 2019, they were named the #1 high school theatre department in Southern AZ.  In 2021 they received the Governor's proclamation for Theatre in our Schools. In 2022, their musical, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was selected as “Best Musical of Tucson”.  2023 brought many successes for Empire Theatre including the One-Act State Championship (for the 3rd time), Best Director and Best Creative Elements for The SpongeBob Musical, being a featured One-Act at the International Thespian Festival, and earning 4 superior Awards at the International Thespian Festival, including a National Championship in Solo Musical.  This year we have continued the success with numerous superior awards and outstanding performances. Empire Theatre also became the first high school in Arizona to offer a Duel-Enrollment Theatre class through Pima Community College.

The theatre department is made up of a variety of acting and technical theatre classes.  King Charlie's Angels will feature the talents of Advanced Drama and Theatre Tech (Drama 3/THE 125 & Tech 3).
