About Alice by Heart

ONLY AVAILABLE FOR LICENSING UNTIL JUNE 2025! DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE TO SEE THIS SHOW IN YOUR AREA.

Alice By Heart is a powerful coming of age love story with music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater with Jessie Nelson.

This haunting story examines, love, loss, grief and childhood set simultaneously against the backdrop of the Blitz in an underground London tube station and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. After rescuing her best friend Alfred, Alice Spencer shelters from WW2 bombing raids with other Londoners in an underground tube station. In an attempt to escape from the grief and terror around her, Alice takes Alfred into her version of Alice in Wonderland, their favorite childhood book, as she remembers it by heart. Her fellow shelterers in the tube become the characters in in Wonderland as she navigates their childhood memories, the mystery of growing up, and the joy and pain of falling in love with your best friend.

With an extraordinarily talented cast, gorgeous music played by a live band, moving projections, dreamlike film footage and intricate organic ensemble choreography, this unforgettable love story will be one you won't soon forget.

Don't miss this chance to see this musical taking the country by storm!

The show is rated PG for mild language, adult themes of illness, war and death. It may not be appropriate for young children.

The Harlequin Club

The Harlequin Club is Central Bucks West High School's drama club. Fall productions may include a full-length play, one-act plays and/or a smaller ensemble musical. In the spring we produce a large full ensemble musical, typically with a pit orchestra. In addition, we present a student-directed one-act showcase and a student-directed cabaret also in the spring, as well as other community appearances and festivals throughout the year.

We are Troupe 2115, active members of the International Thespian Society And we are proud members of the Philadelphia Independence Awards. In 2022, the Harlequin Club won the award for best High School Musical in the Philadelphia region for their production of Amélie. Also in 2022 and again in 2023, Harlequin Club students received the nomination to represent the Philadelphia region in the prestigious Jimmy Awards for High School Musical Theatre. Director Claudine Piechotta was nominated as Educator of the Year for the Philadelphia Region in 2024 along with one of our Harlequin students for her Creative Team Leadership. In the Spring of 2024 The Harlequin Club's production of Mean Girls  was awarded “Best Musical Production” at the Bucks County Playhouse Student Festival.

Even though Central Bucks does not have a performing arts curriculum in school and the club is fully self-funded, we continue to seek out ways to not only engage students through a robust theatrical production schedule but also educate them through workshops, competitions and leadership opportunities.
