Adam Castan͂eda (The Pilot Dance Project)
Adam Castañeda es bailarín, coreógrafo y administrador artístico radicado en Houston, Texas. Es director ejecutivo y artístico del Pilot Dance Project y, a través de esta organización sin fines de lucro, produce una temporada completa de danza moderna, así como el Texas Latino/a/x Contemporary Dance Festival y Bayou City Dances. Como miembro de la compañía de The Pilot Dance Project, ha bailado obras de Ashley Horn, jhon r. stronks, Jennifer Mabus, Lori Yuill, Jaime Fruge-Walne, Erica Gionfriddo (Austin) y Corian Ellisor (Atlanta). He is the Executive and Artistic Director of the Pilot Dance Project, and through this non-profit, he produces a full season of modern dance as well as the Texas Latino/a/x Contemporary Dance Festival and Bayou City Dances. As a company member of The Pilot Dance Project, he has danced works by Ashley Horn, jhon r. stronks, Jennifer Mabus, Lori Yuill, Jaime Fruge-Walne, Erica Gionfriddo (Austin), and Corian Ellisor (Atlanta). For his choreography, Adam is a four-time recipient of the Houston Arts Alliance’s Support for Artists and Creative Individuals Grant for his evening-length works Lazarus in the Promised Land (2021), Migration (2023), The Women of Northside (2024), and the upcoming Carnegie Summer (2026). His choreography credits for theater include Afsaneh Aayani's Innominate (Catastrophic Theatre), Cleansed (Catastrophic Theatre), Last Stop on Market Street (Main Street Theater), Rumplestiltskin (University of Houston), and Afsaneh Aayani's The Swan Painter. Adam was a company member for four seasons with Jennifer Wood’s Suchu Dance, and currently performs with the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble in both Houston and New York. Outside of his work in the dance field, he is a proud faculty member of the English department at Houston City College (formerly Houston Community College).
Karina Gonzalez (Voices of Arts Central)

For Festival Danzas Tarima, we had the honor of collaborating with artists whose lives resonate deeply with the festival’s theme. Dorianne A. Castillo (Dorianne A. Castillo)
Dorianne A. Castillo es una bailarina puertorriqueña formada en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Ponce y la Escuela de Danza Andanza de San Juan. Tras mudarse a Houston en 2005, actuó con varias compañías de danza, como Freneticore, Mnemosyne Dance Company, Rice Dance Theater y Suchu Dance. Actualmente, es bailarina de The Pilot Dance Project, dirigido por Adam Castañeda. La coreografía de Castillo se ha presentado en diversos eventos, como "Anything Goes" del Festival Fringe de Houston y el Festival de Danza Contemporánea Latino/a/x. También cocreó la película de danza "Daydream" con Pin Lim. Castillo is a Puerto Rican dancer who trained at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Ponce and Andanza School of Dance in San Juan. After relocating to Houston in 2005, she performed with several dance companies, including Freneticore, Mnemosyne Dance Company, Rice Dance Theater, and Suchu Dance. Presently, she is a dancer with The Pilot Dance Project, led by Adam Castañeda. Castillo's choreography has been featured at various events, such as the Houston Fringe Festival's "Anything Goes" and the Latino/a/x Contemporary Dance Festival. She also co-created the dance film "Daydream" with Pin Lim. Her more recent works include "Entre Luces y Pensamientos" and "Silenced Souls," which was a collaboration with Lys Portano and drew inspiration from the "Forgotten: Women in Juarez" podcast, using projections of drawings by artist Andrea Arroyo. Other recent pieces are "Eventide," which premiered with the HCC Central Dance Ensemble in 2023, and "Kahlo Colors," which was presented at the 2025 Latino/a/x Contemporary Dance Festival and the Frida Kahlo Festival in Houston, TX. Cynthia García (Cynthia García)
Cynthia es una artista chicana nacida y criada en El Paso, Texas, y actualmente es intérprete, creadora y educadora radicada en Houston, Texas. Sus habilidades incluyen formación en actuación, canto, baile y titiritero. Obtuvo su maestría y licenciatura en Bellas Artes en danza, así como su título de asociado en artes, y cuenta con más de 25 años de experiencia en danza en múltiples estilos. Cynthia actualmente imparte clases en la Escuela de Teatro Musical TUTS Humphreys, el Instituto de Danza Contemporánea y es miembro de la compañía The Pilot Dance Project. Ha presentado sus obras en el Festival de Danza Contemporánea Latino/a/x, el Festival Mix + MATCH, el Festival de Danza y Comedia, Ten Tiny Dances, el Festival de Bailando, el Festival El Zócalo, el Best of Fringe Fest y la Asociación Americana de Danza Universitaria. Ella ha tenido el placer de bailar para artistas como Marlana Doyle, Sean Curran, Adam Castañeda, Amy Barnes, Erin Reck, Dionne Noble, Ayan Felix, Dorianne Castillo-Rivera, Andrea Vazquez-Aguirre, y Myron Nadel. Her skillset includes training in acting, singing, dancing, and some puppeteering. She’s received her MFA and BFA in dance as well as her Associate of Arts degree and has over 25 years of dance experience in multiple styles. Cynthia currently teaches at TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre, The Institute of Contemporary Dance, and is a company member with The Pilot Dance Project. She has had works presented at the Latino/a/x Contemporary Dance Festival, Mix + MATCH Festival, Comedy Dance Festival, Ten Tiny Dances, Bailando Dance Festival, El Zócalo Festival, Best of Fringe Fest, and the American College Dance Association. She has had the pleasure of dancing for artists such as Marlana Doyle, Sean Curran, Adam Castañeda, Amy Barnes, Erin Reck, Dionne Noble, Ayan Felix, Dorianne Castillo-Rivera, Andrea Vazquez-Aguirre, and Myron Nadel. Jose Sada (Mixteco Ballet Folklorico)
El Ballet Folklórico Mixteco se dedica a la investigación, preservación y educación de las costumbres, tradiciones y cultura mexicanas a través del arte de la música y la danza. Fundado en 1992, nuestro objetivo es brindar a los jóvenes del área de Houston actividades culturales gratificantes que fomenten la conciencia artística en la comunidad. El director del grupo, José Sada, enfatiza la disciplina mental y física, a la vez que incorpora estilos coreográficos únicos a las danzas folclóricas tradicionales. Mixteco ha sido tres veces Gran Campeón de la "Competencia Folklórica de Texas" de 2015, 2016 y 2018, que se celebra anualmente en Corpus Christi, Texas. Desde su formación en 1992, Mixteco ha cosechado un éxito rotundo en Texas, México y el extranjero, presentándose en diversos eventos y competencias de danza. Con orgullo, representamos a Houston en diversas competencias de danza en el área de Houston y sus alrededores, así como en Estados Unidos e internacionalmente. A nivel internacional, Mixteco viajó a Macedonia en 2012, Puerto Rico en 2015 y Perú en 2019. En diciembre de 2013, nuestro grupo realizó una visita histórica a la República Popular China. El grupo tuvo mucho éxito y actuó como parte de la Asociación de Ciudades Hermanas en la ceremonia inaugural de un evento de una semana.*****Mixteco Ballet Folklórico is dedicated to the research, preservation and education of Mexican customs, traditions and culture through the art of music and dance. Founded in 1992, our goal is to provide Houston area youth with cultural activities that are rewarding and increases artistic awareness within the community. Group director, Jose Sada emphasizes mental and physical discipline while adding unique styles of choreography to the traditional folkloric dances. Mixteco is a three-time Grand Champion for 2015, 2016 & 2018's "Competencia Folklórica de Texas" held annually in Corpus Christi, TX. Since its formation in 1992, Mixteco has had overwhelming success throughout Texas, Mexico and abroad by performing at various events and dance competitions. We proudly represented Houston in various competitive dance events in and around the Houston area as well as throughout the United States and internationally. Internationally, Mixteco has traveled to Macedonia in 2012, Puerto Rico in 2015 and Peru in 2019. In December of 2013, our group made a historic visit to the People's Republic of China. The group had much success and performed as part of the Sister Cities Association in the Opening Ceremony of a week-long event.
Andrea Saucedo (André) (Andrea Saucedo (André))
Directora de KÚOS, Compañía de Danza Contemporánea, profesora del programa de danza de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso (UTEP), profesora de diseño de moda y diseño industrial de la Universidad de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) y miembro del colectivo italiano "ArsLonga". A lo largo de su carrera artística, André también ha formado parte de la compañía de danza "Valleto" y de la compañía de danza aérea "PIM" de Las Cruces, Nuevo México, y se ha desempeñado como coreógrafa/profesora de la Compañía de Ballet Clásico de la UACJ. Participó en la "Breaking Dance Convention 2024" en representación del distrito escolar independiente de El Paso (SISD). También participó en la "Gaga Eden Spring Edition 2023", donde conoció y aprendió del director Ohad Naharin en Moncalvo, Italia. Presentó una de sus piezas en el "Bailando Festival" 2022, en Corpus Christi. Su video de danza "Brisa" ganó en el Festival de Danza Contemporánea Nellie Campobello en 2022, compartiendo espacio con el director Henry Torres de LuxBoreal. Ha colaborado con diversos artistas y profesores en diferentes ramas del arte, como la danza, la fotografía, el video y el teatro; con: Andrea Vázquez, Bill Evans, Joel Camargo, Mountain Dance Movement, EPCC, NMSU, Hilary McDaniels, Debra Knapp, Christy Mitchell, Myron Nadel, Lisa Smith, Emily Morgan, Morgan Rivera, Marisol Gálvan, Geo Samaniego, Simoné Velázquez, Dayna Saldívar, Denzel Vázquez, Natalia Hernández, Jorge Cuevas, Giovanny Gutiérrez, entre otros. Actualmente, André colabora con Onerom y Javier Bustamante, y continúa su formación y docencia en el mundo de la danza.***** Director of KÚOS, Contemporary Dance Company, faculty member of the dance program at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), faculty member of the fashion design & industrial design at the Universidad de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), and a member of the Italian collective "ArsLonga."
