Alexis Kennedy (she/her)

Alexis Kennedy is a senior Theatre Arts major honored to make her directing debut with Lynn Nottage’s Fabulation, or The Re-Education of Undine as her senior capstone project. Starting her journey as a performer, Alexis transitioned into directing to tell stories that resonate deeply with her and her community. She’s grateful to Bowie State University’s Theatre Arts Department for their support, encouragement, and trust, which have prepared her to bring this vision to life with purpose and passion.

Head Stage Manager

Keisha Brown (she/her)

Keisha Brown is a rising senior theatre major at Bowie State University. Ms. Brown has been involved with production projects since Fall of 2022, including “Flyin’ West” and “Medea” as Assistant Stage Manager. She has enjoyed being a part of the production crew for Buy Black! as an Lighting Designer. Student film credits “Moe’s Pizza,” ‘Insane,” ‘Who Killed Mr. Matthews?,” “Shutter,” Novella H.I.V Prevention mini series. She also appeared in a Target Commercial.

Costume Designer

Kayla Grange (she/her)

Kayla Grange is a Visual Communication Digital Media and Arts (VCDMA with a concentration in fashion design. She has worked not only as a Costume Designer but also as a costume assistant. After college, she would like to go into a Master’s program in Costume Design. She has worked in the theater since she came to Bowie State University. Set Designer

Nadia Kuffar (she/her)

Nadia Kuffar (she/her) is a junior digital media arts major, making her debut as set designer for BSU Theatre’s fall 2024 production of Fabulation. Her departmental history is varied; having fulfilled set build, strike, and light-plot roles for past productions Ride The Cyclone and Buy Black. Beyond Bowie, she was a selected participant of the spring 2024 United States Institute for Theatre Technology conference in Seattle, Washington, and had recently earned an assistant set design position at 1st Stage Theater.

Myles Clark (he/him)

Myles A. Clark is a 22-year-old Norfolk, VA native and is a senior at Bowie State University majoring in Fine and Performing Arts with a concentration in Music Technology. An aspiring Hip-Hop audio engineer and producer, Myles brings a fresh perspective to sound design. This is his debut project in sound design, created in collaboration with co-sound designer Ibrahim Jalloh, marking his initial step into the professional world as he hones his skills in audio engineering and production.

Ibrahim Jalloh (he/him)

Ibrahim S Jalloh (he/him)is a producer, sound engineer, songwriter, and sound designer currently enrolled as a Junior in the Music Technology program at Bowie State University. He has 4 years of experience in working with music production in the Ableton DAW. He has co-worked on the sound design for BSU Theatre’s production “Fabulation,” along with Myles Clark.

Lauren Daniels (she/her)

Lauren Christin is a BSU senior earning her B.S. in Theatre Arts with an Acting/ Directing concentration. She is currently serving as an assistant stage manager for Fabulation. She made her Bowie State theatre debut in “Ride The Cyclone” as Ocean last semester! She has previously been in “The Grown Up” (u/s Actor D) and “Small Mouth Sounds” (Female Swing). She is also a theatre educator with MN-CPPC and StarMakers Academy of Dance.

Justus Harris (he/him)

Justus Harris (He/Him) is an American actor from Charles County, Maryland. Growing up, Justus was involved in many different sports and hobbies including football, basketball, baseball, robotics club, and STEM team. It was during his senior year in high school that Justus found his true passion in acting.

Brielle Bertrand (Student) is a Junior at Bowie State university majoring in Theatre Art with a concentration in Acting and Directing. She has nine years of theatre experience and has the ability to hold a note or two. She also has community experience with theatre and film. Kyia Parker is a Theatre Arts major with a minor in Acting and Directing. This is her first production working behind the scenes, but continues bringing a passion for storytelling and performance to every project. Kyia is excited to be a part of this production and looks forward to continuing to grow as both an actor and director in the world of theatre.

London Diggs (He/Him) is a senior theater major with a concentration in Acting /Directing from Portsmouth, Virginia. Lorenzo Miguel is a multi-disciplinary theatre artist with a focus in Acting, Writing, and Lighting Design. Lorenzo is proud to return to his Alma Mater to guide the next generation of designers. Recent credits include Wannabe (Capital Fringe Festival), 10 Seconds (Imagination Stage), George on H(Mosaic Theater). Tiana Brown is a freshman at Bowie State University currently pursuing a degree in Theater Arts. Past productions include 101 Dalmatians and The Jungle Book at age 6. She has a passion for storytelling, as well as visual arts and flute performance. Tiana aspires to be a Psychologist and integrate her artistic pursuits into that, blending creativity with psychological insight.

Person B, Stuff, and Strength - Everybody [2021] (Bowie State). News Reporter - Stuck at Home in 2020 (Wise High) and Katie - Ten Actors In Search Of A Cell Phone [2019] (Wise High) and was Little Sister in a film called DDD, directed by Kiana Thomas.

Maddie Bozeman is a freshman at Bowie State University. This will be her first theater production with Bowie State Theater, and it will be the first production she has done since she was 12 years old. She is genuinely happy to be a part of this amazing cast and crew and is truly excited to be a part of "Fabulation!"

Koda Carlton Myers (he/him)

Koda Myers(he/him) a Junior at Bowie State University majoring in Communication.He has a profound interest in the world of acting. He has played various roles such as “Fences” as Cory and “A Midnight Summers Dream” as Theseus.Contributing in several student based plays and films. He is helping with backstage as an understudy for this production to widen his knowledge on stage and off.

Elena Velasco (she/ella)

Elena Velasco is a Helen Hayes-nominated theatre artist and Stage Director and Choreographers Society union member. Directing/choreography credits: Convergence Theatre, Synetic Theater, GALA Hispanic, 1st Stage, Keegan Theatre, NextStop Theatre, Adventure Theatre, Kennedy Center’s New Visions New Voices Festival, and Central Square Theatre in Greater Boston. Ms. Velasco is the Artistic Director/Founder of Convergence Theatre. She is a 200-hr certified yoga instructor, helping performers discover greater physical awarness and agency. www.elenavelasco.net

Playwright

Lynn Nottage is a playwright, a screenwriter and installation artist. She is the first, and remains the only, woman to have won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama twice. Her plays have been produced widely in the United States and throughout the world.

Most recently, Nottage premiered MJ the Musical, directed by Christopher Wheeldon and featuring the music of Michael Jackson, at the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway, Clyde's directed by Kate Whoriskey at Second Stage Theater on Broadway and an opera adaptation of her play Intimate Apparel composed by Ricky Ian Gordon and directed by Bart Sher, commissioned by The Met/Lincoln Center Theater and co-curated with Director Miranda Haymon the Performance Installation The Watering Hole at the Signature Theater.

Her other work includes, Floyd's (retitled- Clyde's) (Guthrie Theater), the musical adaptation of Sue Monk Kidd's novel The Secret Life of Bees, with music by Duncan Sheik and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead (The Almeida Theatre/The Atlantic Theater), Mlima’s Tale (Public Theater/ Kiln), By The Way, Meet Vera Stark (Lilly Award, Drama Desk Nomination- Second Stage/Signature Theater), Ruined (Pulitzer Prize, OBIE, Lucille Lortel, New York Drama Critics’ Circle, Audelco, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award- MTC/Goodman Theater); Intimate Apparel (American Theatre Critics and New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards for Best Play Center Stage/SCR/ Roundabout Theater); Fabulation, or The Re-Education of Undine (OBIE Award - Playwrights Horizons/Signature Theater); Crumbs from the Table of Joy; Las Meninas; Mud, River, Stone; Por’knockers; and POOF!

Her play Sweat (Pulitzer Prize, Evening Standard Award, Obie Award, Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, Tony Nomination, Drama Desk Nomination) moved to Broadway after a sold-out run at The Public Theater. It premiered and was commissioned by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival American Revolutions History Cycle/Arena Stage. Inspired by her research on Sweat, Nottage developed This is Reading, a performance installation based on two years of interviews, at the Franklin Street, Reading Railroad Station in Reading, PA in July 2017.

She is the co-founder of the production company, Market Road Films, whose most recent projects include the. award winning documentary Takeover (NY times, Op-doc) by Emma Francis Francis-Snyder, the Peabody nominated podcast Unfinished: Deep South (Stitcher) by Taylor Hom and Neil Shea, The Notorious Mr. Bout directed by Tony Gerber and Maxim Pozdorovkin (Premiere/Sundance 2014), First to Fall directed by Rachel Beth Anderson (Premiere/ IDFA, 2013) and Remote Control (Premiere/Busan 2013- New Currents Award). Market Road Films currently has a first look deal with SISTER. Over the years, she has developed original projects for Amazon, HBO, Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, Showtime, This is That and Harpo. She was a writer and producer on the Netflix series She's Gotta Have It, directed by Spike Lee and a consulting producer on the third season of Dickinson (Apple +).

Nottage is the recipient of a MacArthur "Genius Grant" Fellowship, Steinberg "Mimi" Distinguished Playwright Award, PEN/Laura Pels Master Playwright Award, William Inge Festival Distinguished Playwright, TIME 100 (2019), Signature One Playwright, Merit and Literature Award from The Academy of Arts and Letters, Columbia University Provost Grant, Doris Duke Artist Award, The Joyce Foundation Commission Project & Grant, Madge Evans-Sidney Kingsley Award, Nelson A. Rockefeller Award for Creativity, The Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Award, the inaugural Horton Foote Prize, Helen Hayes Award, the Lee Reynolds Award, and the Jewish World Watch iWitness Award. Her other honors include the National Black Theatre Fest's August Wilson Playwriting Award, a Guggenheim Grant, Lucille Lortel Fellowship and Visiting Research Fellowship at Princeton University. She is a graduate of Brown University and the Yale School of Drama. She is also a Professor of Theatre Arts at Columbia School of the Arts.

Nottage is a Doris Duke Artist, a board member for BRIC Arts Media Bklyn, Frontline Women's Fund, Dramatist Play Service, Second Stage and the Dramatists Guild. She recently completed a three-year term as an Artist Trustee on the Board of the Sundance Institute. She is member of the The Dramatists Guild, WGAE, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is currently an artist-in-residence at the Park Avenue Armory.
