Costume Designer and Intimacy Choreographer
Jada CatoJada Cato is a country singer and multi-hyphenate artist. Her vast experience in design, directing, acting, and musical performance has been recognized on a national scale. The GLAAD Rising Star Award Recipient recently released her debut, self-titled album, JADA CATO, and she is excited to be home in Birmingham to work on this incredible project in between tour dates. Jada is the recipient of Broadway World's "Best Costume Design of a Play or Musical (local)" for BBRTC's 2019 run of Choir Boy. In 2021, she made her Broadway debut in “Sing Out!: A Broadway Musical Revue” at the Lincoln Center with the Austin Arts Project whilst representing PLAYBILL in the NYC Pride Festival. She then went on to serve as the Associate MD of the Denver Center of Performing Art's production of Choir Boy and MD of ACT's (Seattle) production of Choir Boy. Tarell Alvin McCraney’s work touches Jada deeply and “Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet” is no different. She’s grateful to have worked on multiple productions of his work and to have met him during a run of Choir Boy. Jada feels blessed to live a life where she can pursue, experience, and facilitate art-especially black, queer art-as a part of her mission of spiritual, joyful liberation for self and for all. She thanks her family, friends, Spirit, ancestors, and BBRTC for their support. You can find more about CMT’s own Jada Cato, including tour dates, merch, and booking info, on her website: jadacatomusic.com @jadacatomusic
