About Pygmalion

“London. On a rainy evening in 1913, linguist Henry Higgins has a fateful encounter with an impertinent Cockney flower seller. When the girl shows up at  his laboratory the following day, the haughty and impulsive Higgins makes a bold wager with a colleague: employing his mastery of language he will transform Eliza Doolittle from a rough street urchin into an aristocratic lady in just six months’ time. And so begins Eliza's halting metamorphosis … but what will become of the poor girl once this “experiment” is over?” (Morse, 1)

Pygmalion, the origin story that inspired the beloved musical “My Fair Lady” comes to life on the BCA stage this spring. Originally written by George Bernard Shaw this story has been captivating audiences since its opening in Vienna, Austria in 1913. This special adapted edition of Pygmalion by Christopher Morse makes this historically long play, even “lighter, livelier Pygmalion” in half the time. (Morse, 2)

The cast and creative team are very excited to share this classic, comedic play with you this spring!

Bethel Conservatory of the Arts / Visible Music College

Bethel Conservatory of the Arts exists to train and equip professional actors, dancers, filmmakers, music composers and screenwriters through fully accredited programs. We envision a generation of creative revivalists who know their identity in Christ, perform in the Presence and release the kingdom of God in the Entertainment Industry.

At BCA, two of our core values are to explore both the Kingdom and humanity.  The world and Scripture are filled with characters who are messy and broken. Our aim is never to glorify sin, but, often the stories we tell will show the lost making mistakes. We won’t always get that balance right, but we are committed to trying our best, and to taking creative risks.
