About A Chorus Line High School Edition
A Chorus Line: Teen Edition is a full-length version of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, adapted for performance by high school students with family audiences. Every aspect of the show has been developed specifically for high school performers: dialogue and content are age-appropriate, dance sequences are of a length befitting high school dancers, and allowances are made to feature actors of any race or ethnicity.
A Chorus Line is a stunning concept musical capturing the spirit and tension of a Broadway chorus audition. Exploring the inner lives and poignant ambitions of professional Broadway performers, the show features one powerhouse number after another. Memorable musical numbers include "What I Did for Love," "One," "I Can Do That," "At the Ballet," "The Music and the Mirror," and "I Hope I Get It." A brilliantly complex fusion of song, dance, and compellingly authentic drama, the show was instantly recognized as a classic.

Director's Note: This Chorus Line journey began last year when our former music teacher asked if we should apply for the Concord Theatrics “One Singular Sensation” licensing grant. I enthusiastically agreed and was nervous/excited when we found out that we were one of ten schools across the country that won the licensing grant! My first thought was to call up my friend and choreographer Linda and ask her to join us on this journey. Once she agreed and we submitted show dates, the wheels were in motion. I really don't think that there are proper words to articulate the growth, commitment and strength that I've seen from the production team and most importantly this cast of amazing students during each rehearsal over the last 7 months. From our first choreography rehearsal to the time the curtain rises for the first time, you are witnessing months of perseverance and overcoming challenges with a dedication to excellence as this story unfolds. A Chorus Line tells the story of the human experience. These students have lived the realty of the Chorus Line story, going through the audition process, rehearsing for hours on end, learning choreography as nondancers, and creating bonds that I'm sure will last for a long time to come. This experience was a collaborative effort and I could not have done it alone. I am so grateful for the gifts and talents of everyone involved. You are seen, loved and adored and I hope you always know you have a spot on the line and in my heart, here at Drama Club. - Ms. Ford
