Meny BeriroMeny was born in Gibraltar and raised in Queens, NY. A NYC high school teacher for over 25 years, Meny quickly learned from his students that if you don’t keep the story moving, a hand goes up and asks for the bathroom pass.
His productions include: Love Poems (Abingdon Theatre Company), Gilgamesh YOLO (Philadelphia Artists’ Collective New Ventures Play Festival,) Sonam’s Gift (New York Theater Summerfest), 46th Street Bliss (Aery Theatre 20/20 Festival), Designated Killer (The Player’s Theatre Short Play Boo Festival – Winner Week 1) Poached Salmon ((SOOP To Nuts Short Play Festival Finalist), Cricket and the Pope (Queens Shortplay Festival Finalist).
Meny was also part of a group of playwrights who wrote 167 Tongues, a series of vignettes portraying the multi-cultural life of Jackson Heights which was featured in the New York Times and American Theatre magazine and produced by Theatre 167. His play, Excellent Souls, was chosen by Marsha Norman as a Yale Drama Series runner-up.
