Everybody loves the international bestseller and award-winning book, The Rainbow Fish, with its wonderful message of friendship and belonging.  This youth-cast play features a variety of charming school and sea-creature characters who admire the famous Rainbow Fish, the most beautiful fish in all the ocean.  But when Rainbow Fish refuses to share her vibrant, shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature.  Unhappy that no one adores her anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus.  Octopus helps the young fish learn that it’s far better to be admired for being kind than for being beautiful.

With bubbly, energetic dialogue full of fun, fishy wordplay, this non-musical version of “The Rainbow Fish” welcomes young audiences to a world framed in a universal message of love, sharing, and kindness that is so much more than just a simple children’s story.

Adapted from the book by Marcus Pfister, translated into English by J.  Alison James, with illustrations by Marcus Pfister.

Directed by Felicia Bredenberg

Presented by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Services, Inc. Centennial, CO.

K-2nd grades - 10 minute “Trickster Tales”; 3rd-8th grades - “Legends of King Arthur” and “Merlin's Magic”; 9-12th grades - “Scene Studies”

Seats are first come, first served at the door (priority given to families of performers). Doors open at 6:30pm. Suggested donation $5.

April 29th @ 2pm & 5pm, April 30th @ 2pm: "Extended Stay" @ Flatiron Crossing Mall

Extended Stay, written by Jenny Stafford and Scotty Arnold, directed by Kelly Bidstrup-Graham, is a brand new musical theatre piece! Featuring a small cast and live piano and guitar accompaniment, this is a staged reading - meaning performers will be seated or standing with music stands and stage directions will be read out. A portion of Extended Stay was featured in Wellspring's 3rd annual CO New Musical Festival in July 2023. This reading, and audience feedback, helps the authors further develop this musical for stage-readiness.

We are so excited to announce we’ve been selected by the City and County of Broomfield as the 2023 Curatorium Artist! Extended Stay is presented during a 3-day (April 28-30) free community event at Flatiron’s Crossing Mall. Visit the art gallery, explore interactive art, and enjoy a show in the 1st floor courtyard near Dick's Sporting Goods.

Please note, as an SCFD organization, we ask all audience members for their county of residence at check-in as a requirement of our grant funding.
