Avenue Q: School Edition Creative

Director / Producer / Set Design
John T. SechlerJohn is a graduate of Kutztown University and holds his Master’s in Technology for the Classroom through Wilkes University. This is his 28th year in the Allentown School District and his 20th and final year teaching and directing the Allen Art Academy Theatre Department, Mr. Sechler will be retiring at the end of this school year and this is his final musical on the Allen Stage as Director of the WAHS Theatre Academy. His directing credits include over 19 dramas and 20 musicals. First and foremost, he would like to thank the administration and school board of ASD for being so supportive of the ARTS! John would like to thank the cast for being so hard working and enthusiastic as they embrace their roles. His creative team for all their hard work which makes everything we do seem like fun and not work. John would like to dedicate this show to the CAST and Crew and Creative Team of AVENUE Q: school edition……..”it’s been swell.”

Choreography / Assistant Director
Dawn BlancoThe director of the Studio Dance Academy and dance teacher at WAHS, she began her dance training at age 7 and is trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, musical theater and hip hop dance. She attended Temple and Kutztown Universities. She has studied dance at Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey Studio, Steps on Broadway and Dance New Amsterdam in NYC. She holds K–12 teaching cert. in the state of PA and a Dance Masters of America cert. in Ballet, Jazz and Modern Instruction. Dawn has 20+ years' teaching experience and has choreographed for nationally competitive dance ensembles, soloists, and high school dance teams. She choreographed Trexler Middle School’s productions of OKLAHOMA and THE KING & I. She has Freddy Awards nominations for outstanding choreography for productions of GUYS AND DOLLS, WEST SIDE STORY, AIDA, SISTER ACT, and THE WIZ. The musical production is a highlight of Ms. Blanco’s school year and she is so grateful to be a part of the magic.

Technical Director
Marc HissamMarc began working on stage as crew when in 7th grade eventually becoming a professional part-time stagehand with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 203 for nearly 10 years. (Marc’s parents, being from the Depression era, made sure he knew which end of a hammer to hit a nail with). Being a life-long learner, Marc has earned degrees from four different colleges and universities. As well as holding a Principal certification, he is certified to teach numerous subjects, and is currently an Inclusion Learning Support teacher at Allen. He actively encourages special needs students to participate in Allen’s theatre program. Stressing the need for students to assume responsibility for the various aspects of the stage productions, ask any of the crew his favorite saying and they will say, “It’s a STUDENT project. What do YOU think?” He has been active with the WAHS Theatre program since 2006.
Avenue Q will be Marc’s last production at William Allen as he is set to retire and turn in his keys after a 34-year career in public education. He would like to thank his colleagues, both the adults and students, for the many memories that he will take with him. Good luck to all in the future.

Musical Director
Brandon RempBrandon is the director of Choral Activities here at WAHS. He directs the William Allen Choir and Chorale. Brandon is a William Allen alum ('04) where he participated in Chorale, Choir, Band, Orchestra, and Theater. He then went to Moravian University (then Moravian College) where he earned his degree in Music Education. Following college, Brandon immediately returned to the Allentown School District where he has taught the majority of his 17 years, here at William Allen. During his 17 years, Brandon has been the music director/assistant music director for the past 12 years. Brandon would like to thank the students for the hard work and dedication they have shown!

Conductor
Eric MoserEric is the proud instrumental director at William Allen High School. At Allen, he teaches marching band, pep band, concert band, orchestra, jazz band, pit. orchestra, music concepts, AP music theory and piano classes. Mr. Moser has been William Allen’s director for the past 11 of his 17 years instructing in the Allentown School District. He volunteers time and plays trombone in the Municipal band of Allentown. He is a proud father of two children and loves seeing his family grow and explore in new adventures every day. Mr. Moser loves musical theater and is proud to work with the cast, crew, pit. and staff of the musical show Avenue Q.

Costumes
Karen ComegysKaren is a graduate of Drexel University with a BS in Interior Design. She has a Secondary Ed. Mathematics Teaching certificate from Kutztown University as well as a MS Cert. in Leadership from LaSalle University, a MS degree in Technology in the Classroom from Wilkes University and a second MS degree in Learning and Teaching Mathematics from Drexel University. Karen retired from teaching three years ago. Prior to AVENUE Q, she has worked on the costumes for THE WIZ, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, SISTER ACT, AIDA, BONNIE & CLYDE, MUSIC MAN, and THE WIZARD OF OZ. She was the advisor for Canaries for Life, Odyssey of the Mind, and Mu Alpha Theta. She gives special thanks to the students for sharing their time and many talents and the WAHS staff for the endless support they provide.

Assistant Producer / Box Office
Joshua BankusJoshua has been a part of the WAHS Theater program since 2013. He is currently in his 20th year of teaching, having earned his undergraduate degree from Bloomsurg University and a Masters Degree from Wilkes University in Classroom Technology. He is very excited for this year's production of Avenue Q: School Edition! He can't wait to see the cast and crew perform with a purpose!

Stage Manager
Adrianna CopelandAdrianna is a sophomore here at William Allen High School. This is her second year on crew. Upon graduation she hopes to continue her education in stage design and management. Her favorite subject is Stagecraft and she thinks Mr. Hissam is the awesomest teacher ever to grace the face of the planet and one day hopes to be as awesome as him.. She would like to thank her family for their support in her long days working with the theatre.Adrianna Copeland is a sophomore here at William Allen High School. This is her second year on crew. Upon graduation she hopes to continue her education in stage design and management. Her favorite subject is Stagecraft and she thinks Mr. Hissam is the awesomest teacher ever to grace the face of the planet and one day hopes to be as awesome as him.. Sound Engineer
Ana OrtizAna is a sophomore here at William Allen High School. She is the lead Sound Engineer and this is her second year on crew. Upon graduation she hopes to pursue an education in Zoology or stagecraft. tHer favorite subject is Science, however if she were to have it, Stagecraft would be her favorite class. Out of the many activities she participates in after-school, Stage Crew would be her favorite because of the opportunities and people she’s met. She would like to thank her alumni for teaching me and my best friend, Livia, for helping me stay in the program.

Sound Assistant
Jesus Salcedo-SimonJesus is a sophomore here at William Allen High School. This is his second year on crew. He is assistant to the head of sound and the lead trainer for spotlight operators. Upon graduation he hopes to continue his education at P.C.A.D studying to be an animator and comic book artist. And in five years he sees himself working at a professional animation studio.

Technical Assistant
Brandon Rendon AguilarBrandon is a sophomore here at William Allen High School. He is a native of Colombia. This is his second year on crew. Upon graduation he hopes to join the army so he can play with big guns and make things go boom. He is obsessed with making things go boom. His favorite class ever was Stagecraft and he thinks Mr. Hissam is the most awesome teacher there ever was. One day he hopes to be even half as good. He would like to thank his family for their support, even though they think he is off getting into trouble rather than actually being at school with the crew.

Propmaster
Julian AyalaJulian is a sophomore at William Allen High School. He plans to go into photography after he graduates college where he will study digital media.

Lights
Greyson MoretzGreyson is a sophomore at William Allen High School. This is his second year doing crew as a lighting technician. Upon graduation he hopes to become a teacher to help the future generation with their studies. He would like to thank his family and friends as well as his fellow crew members for all their support.

Lighting Apprentice
Wildielyz Velez OrtizWill is a sophomore at William Allen High School. This is his first year doing crew as a lighting apprentice. Upon graduation he hopes to join the fire department, and play college basketball. His favorite class is biology. And He would like to thank his family and friends as well as his fellow crew members for all their support.

Spotlight
Annalyn MontanezAnnalyn is a Freshman at William Allen High School. She enjoys painting and drawing, and her favorite part of the day is being in Stage Crew, where she gets to create art with friends and stay active. In Stage Crew, she is also learning how to operate the spotlights. After high school, she hopes to work as a pediatrician and make the doctor's office a fun place for kids. She would like to thank her family for being understanding and supportive of her activities and the friends she has made.

Spotlight
Brandon RodriguezBrandon is a Sophomore at Allen, and this is his second year doing stage crew. Upon graduation, he plans on going to college for a degree in Theatre Production. His favorite class is currently Sociology, and he thinks that Mr.Hissam is an excellent director who people should look up to as a mentor. He would like to thank his friends and mother for pushing him to do crew in the first place, and opening him up to this amazing opportunity.

Key Grip
Livia PizziniLivia is a Sophomore at William Allen High School. She is key grip in Allen's Stage Crew and is working to learn sound and lighting when needed. After she graduates, she will make her way to a job in the film industry, where she hopes to be working with the team on Breaking Glass Studios for film directing and playwriting.

Mike TrejoMichael Nicole Trejo is a Senior here at William Allen High School. This is his first year on crew. Upon graduation he hopes to continue his education in literature and language. His favorite subjects are Stagecraft and literature and he thinks Mr. Hissam is a kind and understanding teacher and definitely makes the class enjoyable. He is graduating this year thanks to a combination of great support from his teachers and his own determination and perseverance.

Ydelises EncarnacionYdelises is a sophomore at William Allen High School. This is her first year on crew as a grip. Upon graduation she hopes to continue her education in LCCC in Biology. Her favorite subject is English and in ten years She sees herself in school to be a Radiologist. She would like to thank her classmates for supporting and helping her.

Connie BelfortConnie is a Junior at William Allen High School. This is her first year on crew as a grip. Upon graduation she hopes to become a pediatrician. Her favorite subject is math. In ten years she see's herself also becoming a dance teacher. She would like to thank her friends and family for helping and supporting her.

Brianna CirinoBrianna is a Sophomore here at William Allen highschool. This is her first year on crew. Upon graduation she hopes to pursue a career in pediatrics. Her favorite subject is Stagecraft and she thinks Mr.Hissam is an amazing teacher who pushes others to learn and develop important skills. She would like to thank all her family and friends who continue to support her in her choices.

Carpenter
Dylan AlbrightDylan is a Sophomore at William Allen High School. This is his first year in stage crew. After graduation he hopes to attend college to pursue a career in medicine. His strongest subject is Mathematics. He believes Mr. Hissam to have been a great help with growing practical skills such as carpentry and time management. He would like to thank his family, friends, and teachers, for their unwavering support throughout his high-school career thus far.

Wardrobe
Elekza Hottenstein QuirosElekza is a Junior at WAHS and ,Elekza has been acting since her 8th grade year and has taken roles on such as WAHS’s production of ROCKY HORRORS (Riff Raff) ,LITTLE SHOP (ENSEMBLE),THE WIZ (Glinda) and now will being taking the stage for the production of Avenue Q . Elekza is currently an athlete at WAHS. Additionally , she is assisting our head of costumes Comegys ,with the costumes for the show and is excited to be part of the production as she loves acting and always has a wonderful experience . Elekza would like to thank her family and friends , Mrs Hissam ,Comegys , and the rest of the cast and crew for making such a amazing and wonderful show .she would like to give a special thank you to her amazing director ,Mr. Sechler ,for giving her the opportunity to do what she is so passionate about not only on stage but behind the scenes .

Woodwinds
Andrew TrautmannAndrew is a software architect from the Allentown area and is excited to be back with Allen HS Theater for his fifth show. He has played with various pit orchestras in the Lehigh Valley, including conducting the pit orchestras for shows at Lower Macungie Middle School theater since 2018. When not playing in a pit, Andrew plays oboe in the Macungie Band and serves as an accompanist at church services at Muhlenberg College.

Keyboard
Cynthia Ditzel GehoCynthia is a graduate of William Allen High School and West Chester University. She was an elementary music teacher in the Allentown School District before retiring. She plays mallet percussion in the Macungie Band. Cindy is a substitute organist for many Lehigh Valley churches and accompanies for several school choirs. She has played keyboard in over 65 plays. This will be her 20th show playing in the pit at Allen.

Guitar
John ChristieJohn has been playing guitar for over fifty years. He is a 1977 graduate of Dieruff High School (Husky Pride), where he was a member of the Dieruff Drama Club, and Peter Carpenter’s Varsity Voices, and choir. He is a graduate of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (1981) and holds a BS in Education with a concentration in music, and earned a Masters Equivalency Degree. He retired in 2019 after teaching elementary students in the Allentown School District for over 35 years. He has played in the Kutztown Alumni Jazz Band, and numerous musical theater productions in ASD (South Mountain, High Notes Gala, and William Allen), and also at Allentown Central Catholic, Northern Lehigh, Southern Lehigh, Kutztown, and Tulpehocken Area School Districts. He has played guitar for Pines Dinner Theater, and regularly performs with The Grace Notes Gospel Big Band and the Christian folk trio group Keith, John & Sue. His group released a cd of original music in 2024. He plays most Sundays in the worship and praise band at his church. He would like to thank his wife Sue, Mr. Sechler, Mr. Moser, and Mr. Remp, his friends in the pit, and the cast and crew of Avenue Q for their dedication and hard work.

Piano / Keyboard
Lind BerisLinda has taught piano students for over forty years; served as a choir director and church musician; has been a music teacher and choral director at Salisbury high school; music director for twenty Salisbury musical theater productions; and has been the accompanist for the Allen chorus and the pianist in twenty one Allen high school theater productions. Linda is married to her husband, George, and they have 3 adult children and four grandchildren.

Bass Guitar
Richard BatistaRichard currently primarily focuses on the Bass Guitar, French horn, and Percussion; he also has a background in other instruments including the Trumpet, Clarinet, Tuba, and Saxophone. Richard has been a member of the WAHS Marching Band as drumline captain, Starcross Indoor Percussion, 1st chair French Horn in Wind Ensemble and Orchestra at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for The Arts, and has performed at NYC’s Carnegie Hall twice with Louis E. Dieruff High School. This is Richard’s 9th year of involvement in Allen’s pit orchestra and couldn’t be more excited. Richard would like to thank his family, friends, fellow pit members for the continued support and would also like to thank Eric Moser for the opportunity to play under his direction again.

Drum Set/Percussion
Wayne KurtzWayne is a 1990 graduate of William Allen HS. Previously, Wayne was the Percussion Instructor and Arranger here at Wm. Allen from 1994 to 2022, and the Assistant Band Director from 1998 to 2022. He is currently the Battery Percussion Instructor with the Northampton HS Marching Band and is an adjunct faculty member of Cedar Crest College’s Arts Department, teaching percussion. Wayne has played drums for every production at WAHS since 1998 as well as several shows at Cedar Crest College, The Pennsylvania Playhouse, and the ASD High Notes Gala. He is married to his wife Tammy. Together they have a son, Devin, who is a freshman at Northampton High School and is also a percussionist in the Northampton High School Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band. Wayne is honored once again to be part of another WAHS musical, and would like to wish the best of luck to everyone involved in the 2025 production of “Avenue Q.”
