The Great Gatsby Cast
Daisy Buchannan (Joanna McShaffry)JOANNA MCSHAFFRY (Daisy Buchanan) is 16 years old and a sophomore at WCA. Fun fact about Joanna is that she has been doing theatre since she was in 4th grade! She also plays softball and tennis. She loved learning the choreography, bonding with the cast and crew and loves the New York City hotel fight. She plans to go to college and major in education. Previous Credits include. Crapshooter (Guys and Dolls Jr.), Pepper (Annie Jr.), Donkey (Shrek Jr) Bert (Mary Poppins Jr), Ariel (Little Mermaid Jr.- cancelled due to Covid), Illona Ritter (She Loves Me), Broadway in the Moutains Theatre Camp, Triple Threat Workshop/WCA Disney Dazzle Theatre Camp. She would like to thank Miss Caitlin, Miss Julianna, my mom and dad, and the cast and crew.
Nick Carraway (Jakob Hansen)JAKOB HANSEN (Nick Carraway) is 16 years old and is in 11th grade. Jakob is involved with Golf, Student council (Representative), Mock trial, Key Club (Vice-President), Science Club (Treasurer) , Mental Health club (Secretary), Thespian Society (Treasurer) National Honors society. Throughout this process he has learned the most from memorizing his monologues, and learning how to stage them. His final monologue is his favorite. He plans to go to to college and major in Business.
Fun Fact about Jakob: Last year was his first musical She Loves Me as Mr. Maraczek, and The Great Gatsby is his first straight play! He would like to thank Maria Mcshaffry, Miss Caitlin, Miss Julianna, and Caitlin's parents for all they do!
Jay Gatsby (Jack Cavenas)JACK CAVENAS (Jay Gatsby) a freshman and is 14 years old.Previous onstage credits include Zombieo and Juliet (Adam), The Wizard of Oz (Lollipop Guild), The Little Mermaid (Grimsby)
He also participates in Mock trial, student council, swim, soccer, and tennis. He can also juggle, plays the drums and bass and is self taught on the banjo and piano. Throughout this process he has learned the importance of studying your character and doing research. His favorite part of the show is the fight scene between Gatsby and Tom. He wants to become a doctor either via scholarship or the military. He would like to thank Robert Redford and Leonardo DiCaprio for their inspiring performances of Jay Gatsby and oh yeah, his mom!!!
Jordan Baker (Gianna Jancsura)GIANNA JANCSURA (Jordan Baker) is 17 years old and is a senior at WCA.She has performed in four wildwood Catholic plays most recently, She Loves Me as the role of Arpad Laszlo. During the process of The Great Gatsby she learned to memorize a very long monologue and her favorite scenes are any of the party scenes. Before doing the Great Gatsby, she didn’t know half the things she now knows about the 1920s, and has loved doing research with the cast! She plans to go to college next year and major in game art and animation She would like to thank her family for encouraging her to continue to do the plays and supporting her!
Myrtle Wilson (Julia Brown)JULIA BROWN (Myrtle Wilson) is a Junior, and 16 years old! This is Julia’s very first show! Julia is very involved in school clubs and participates in Mock Trial, Key Club, Thespian Club, National Honor Society, Cheer, Student Council, Science Club, Mental Health Club, the John Walter Band. She has loved everything about The Great Gatsby, and knew nothing about it before! She enjoys dying onstage, and one day hopes to move to New York! Fun fact: She likes cats and online shopping! Tom Buchannan (Matthew Ingersoll)MATTHEW INGERSOLL (Tom Buchanan) is a junior at WCA and is 16 years old. Matt participates in cross country, mock trial, student council, school band, Track and field, key club, sacristan club, and Thespian! He wants to study medicine and become a doctor. Previous Credits Include: Into the Woods Jr. (Narrator 3), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Jr. (Grandpa Joe), Alice in Wonderland (The White Rabbit), Little Women (John Brooks), 25th Annual…. Spelling Bee spelling bee (Chip Tolentino), She Loves Me (Steven Kodaly). He has enjoyed learning about stage combat during this production and wants to thank Miss Caitlin, Miss J, and all the tech crew for their help!
Meyer Wolfsheim/George Wilson (Liv Belasco)LIV BELASCO (Wilson/ Wolfshiem) is a junior and is 16 years old. Liv is the President of the Sacrastin Club, Attorney in Mock Trial, member of NHS, Student Council, Mental Health Club, Vice President of Thespian, Key Club, and manager of the Cross Country team. Liv has loved learning how to act like a old man, and loves the ensemble dance the girls do to “Bad Blood.” Liv is currently working on how to get a higher SAT score, and is obsessed with Marvel and books. Shoutout to the family for dealing with a crazy schedule and finding the time for rehearsals! Previous Credits: She Loves Me (Keller) and Little Women (Ensemble).
Lucille McKee (Ali Martino)ALI MARTINO (Mrs. McKee) is 14 years old and a freshman at WCA. Ali wants to become a veterinarian, loves horseback riding and spending time with her horse Ty! Her favorite part of the show is the fight scene at the New York Hotel, and her favorite part of the process has been meeting new people, and learning from mistakes in order to become a better actress! Previous stage credits include: Shopper/Waitress in She Loves Me, Lost Boy in Peter Pan, an Orphan in Annie, and Ensemble in Mary Poppins. Ali would like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her, and the cast and crew who helped make this play possible!
Chester McKee/Policeman (Kory Lafferty)KORY LAFFERTY (Chester McKee) is 14 years old and is a freshman at WCA. Kory participates in cross country, track and field, swim, and hockey. His favorite part of the process is seeing the entire show come together with lights, costumes and mics, and especially loves performing the song “Call me Maybe” in Act II! Kory loves to travel and hopes to one day travel across Europe and also major in theatre in college. Ensemble (Rebecca Arcuri)REBECCA ARCURI (Ensemble) is 14 years old and is in 8th grade! She participates in Cross Country, Choir, and Cheer, and also likes to surf. She loves the opening number of The Great Gatsby best, and has loved learning all the dances. Previous shows: The Music Man, Shrek, and Mary Poppins. When she grows up she wants to be an actress or anesthesiologist. She would like to thank her parents for supporting her, driving to and from practice and to Ava Keslo for being a great friend.
Ensemble (Olive Cray)OLIVE CRAY (Ensemble) is 13 years old and in the 8th grade. She has several interests including soccer, basketball, softball, horseback riding, and surfing! She also makes her own jewelry, paints, sings, and can play the ukulele. Olive has learned a lot about her own voice while singing, and new acting techniques during the process of this show. She loves that she has gained so many new and important friendships and can’t wait to see how much the cast and crew will grow. Previous Credits include: Young Fiona in Shrek, and Jane in Mary Poppins. Olive is looking forward to performing in EVERY WCA show! She would like to thank her parents, her sister, and her wonderful friends and family too!
Ensemble (Abigail DiStaulo)ABIGAIL DiDTAULO (Ensemble) is 14 years old and a freshman at WCA. At school she participates in Sacrastin club and mental health club. Previous onstage credits: Annie (Miss Hannigan) and she hopes to participate in the upcoming shows at Wildwood Catholic! She has loved meeting new people, learning to dance and her favorite part of the show is the party scene where she sings the song “Creep.” Fun fact about Abby- She doesn’t like to read! She would like to thank her family and friends for encouraging her throughout this production.
Mrs. Michaelis/Ensemble (Gabrielle Jancsura)GABRIELLE JANCSURA (Mrs. Michaelis/ Ensemble) is in 9th grade and is 14 years old.
This is her first show at Wildwood Catholic Academy, but has been in every show at Crest Memorial School. Previous credits include: Peter Pan Jr. (Ensemble) and The Lion King Jr. (Ensemble) Frozen Jr. (Queen Iduna), Beauty and the Beast Jr. (Silly Girl). When not on stage, Gabrielle is a member of the WCA tennis team, and loves both drawing and writing. Throughout the process of this show she has learned how amazing the students in the Wildwood Catholic drama club truly are; small but powerful! And her favorite part is seeing the show grow, evolve and all the theatre magic behind it: that’s what makes theatre so amazing! She would like to thank Miss Caitlin and Miss Julianna for truly putting on this fantastic show, and big thank you to all the parents who are helping with everything they can help with.
