Director: MacKenzie Reed is a Kansas City-based musician, improviser, comedy writer, and producer. Her original musical comedy acts are frequently seen at shows at the Bird Comedy Theater, including Birdstock (“Succulent’s Lament”), Hell-arious (“Tanya, Savior of Hell”), Golden Bird Awards (“Contraption of Love”), and many others. A sought-after coach and teacher, she coaches Tweety Todd, the musical improv house team at the Bird Comedy Theater, and teaches singing and musical improv workshops all over the KC metro and beyond. As a producer, MacKenzie takes enormous joy in creating music-forward shows as well as those that highlight women and make a positive difference in the community. Whether she is behind the keyboard or on the stage, MacKenzie brings passion, energy, and joy to every moment.

Marian McClellan took an improv class three years ago in an attempt to improve her communication skills at work. In spite of no previous performance experience, she fell in love with improv and has been taking classes and performing ever since. The only aspect that she didn’t enjoy was the lack of representation on the stage, so she founded Improv SpringBoard which elevates the voices and talents of women and nonbinary folks through workshops and performance experiences. They are flourishing as a resident company at Whim Productions.
