About Norse Mythology Ragnasplosion

When my mom thought something was particularly tasteless, she would call it “rude and crude and unrefined.”

I honestly cannot think of a better description of this show. The humor, the acting style, the aesthetic… “rude and crude and unrefined," exactly what we are going for.

To my mom and all the moms out there tonight, we are almost kind of sorry. Come to our next show for refinement.  Tonight, we just hope you laugh.

If something in the show should offend, we are nearly sorry about that, too. It is okay to laugh a lot and be offended a little. Comedy doesn't require us to agree. It requires us to see that our pretensions and politics are about as serious as the arguments between Thor and Loki. If disagreeing with something in our show causes you to think a little about why this script got it wrong, we did a good thing tonight, more than we hoped. We just wanted you to laugh and have a good time.

We're Just Playing with You

As a troupe, we call ourselves “players.” This show itself is called a “play.” So… we got a lot of toys here and we plan to play with them tonight. I believe that good theatre doesn't need to leave you wondering how we did things.  You don't need to wonder how we made things fly to have a good time. In this show, you never will.  It just gives you enough to imagine how the Norse imagined the world to be. Rather than leaving you in awe of our special effects, tonight is about giggling at the absurdity of it all.

Just play along, and we'll all have fun.

WCA Dramatic Arts Mammoth Players

This is my fourth year celebrating excellence with the Western Center Academy. The Dramatic Arts Mammoth Players seek to contribute to the school's climate of learning in the following ways.

  • We promote learning theatre arts as well as academic excellence in other class.
  • We create shows where our loved ones can experience laughter, love, and loss with us.
  • We craft competition pieces that push ourselves and our audiences artistically.
  • We work together to create a safe environment where everybody feels valued for their unique contributions.
