About Godspell

A small group of people helps Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games and storytelling techniques. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is used to tell Jesus' lessons about kindness, community, and love.

Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Working). Godspell was an instant international hit with the song "Day by Day" leading the way. The musical features a cornucopia of treasured songs, including "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All Good Gifts," and "Turn Back, O Man."

Godspell ran on Broadway for 527 performances, was transformed into a feature film, which premiered in 1973, and has had numerous revivals on and Off-Broadway. Godspell is a musical sensation that continues to touch audiences.
