About The Prom - High School Edition

"The Prom" is a musical about four fading Broadway stars who travel to a small, conservative Indiana town to support a high school student who is banned from bringing her girlfriend to prom, using the controversy to reignite their own fading fame while advocating for LGBTQ+ rights; the show is full of big song and dance numbers with a message about love and acceptance, highlighting the power of standing up for what is right against societal pressures. 

A cast of 26 talented students are led by Director Wendy Mapes, Producer/Technical Director Lauren M. Grof-Tisza “Cookie”, Assistant Director/Vocal Director John Hellyer, and Choreographed by Vicki Jenkins with Assistant Choreographer JT Jenkins. The pit orchestra, composed of professional players who are in and out of district employees as well as WOHS high school students, is led by Music Director Scott Tomlin. Former West Orange District Media Technician Nicholas Marmo returns as Lighting Designer and Alumni Mazen Dahroug will be providing Sound Design. Costumes by Sharon Ortiz, Set Construction by Max Grossman, Properties/Set Decor by Amanda Best and Hair/Makeup Design by Jeanina Abramo round out the production team.
