About Something Rotten!

Unlabeled Theatre Company is proud to bring you our first show of 2026, SOMETHING ROTTEN! Get ready to experience our unique “shadow partner” staging model as we re-imagine this contemporary classic.

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting - at the same time - Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical! But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. (Content Warning: Adult Language & Themes)

Performed on the intimate thrust stage at The Gremlin Theater in St. Paul, you will feel immersed in the rocking world of the Renaissance created by our artists.   Attending a UTC show is easy and accessible. There is a large free parking lot adjacent to the theater, and King Coil Spirits, Lake Monster Brewing Company and OG ZaZa Pizza are right next door for your before- and after-performance gathering enjoyment.

Unlabeled Theatre Company

Here at Unlabeled, we believe in unified theatre performances. Why does the world insist on separate programming and institutions based on abilities and disabilities? Unlabeled is here to change that standard by casting shows with two people in almost every role. One artist - who has a cognitive and/or physical disability or who is neurodivergent - is paired with a neurotypical “shadow partner." Together, they create their role and performance. Every partnership is different and unique.

Our mission is to use live theatre to provide performing, vocational and life skills opportunities for adults (18+) with disabilities. The work of our organization models and helps create a more inclusive world. Unlabeled Theatre creates opportunities for theatre artists with disabilities, and for volunteers and community members, to experience what people with disabilities can do. Our productions allow people to truly be seen, and to be genuinely included.

The work of Unlabeled Theatre Company doesn't occur without continued financial support from individual donors, foundations and corporations. Please consider donating today using the QR code located in your program and in the lobby.
