About Our Town
Described by Edward Albee as "the greatest American play ever written," Our Town presents the small town of Grover’s Corners in three acts: "Daily Life," "Love and Marriage" and "Death and Eternity." Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, the play depicts the simple daily lives of the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventually – in one of the most famous scenes in American theatre – die. Thornton Wilder's final word on how he wanted his play performed is an invaluable addition to the American stage and to the libraries of theatre lovers internationally.
Turpin High School Theatre
OUR PROGRAM
Turpin Theatre is an educational theatre based out of Turpin High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Turpin Theatre strives to provide students with educational opportunities to observe, understand, and create pre-professional quality theatre through the classroom, extracurricular activities and workshops, and our production season. Each year Turpin Theatre produces three mainstage productions, as well as additional performances for our school and community.
Students are provided the opportunity to expand their experiences by attending the Ohio State Thespian Conference each year to take part in theatre professional led workshops, see and support other school productions, and compete in Individual Events. Numerous students have qualified to compete at the International Thespian Festival based on their work in Individual Events at the state level.
Turpin Theatre is staffed by theatre educators and professionals with years of experience at high school, collegiate, and professional levels. Our program constantly works toward creating well-rounded theatre artists with applicable skills in any field.
