About Triton High School presents Mermaid by Polly Teale

Nick Herns Books says: A bold reimagining of Hans Christian Andersen's tale of love, loss and desire, transported to a contemporary setting.

Beneath the ocean's waves there is no death or pain or separation. Above, the modern world is beset with war, poverty and desire.

On her sixteenth birthday, a mermaid rises up to the surface, leaving her childhood behind for ever when she falls in love with a mortal prince. She knows that she can no longer live at the bottom of the ocean - but must she destroy herself in order to be loved?

Polly Teale's Mermaid was first performed by Shared Experience and Nottingham Playhouse on a UK tour in 2015.

Triton Arts

Each year Triton Theatre participates in the METG (Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild) One Act Festival. On March 2, 2024 Triton will participate in the preliminary session at Framingham High School. There are very strict rules of engagement. The shows must be 40 minutes or less in length. The stage must be set up in 5 minutes and we have only one hour to set up all of our light and sound cues. It is a magical event! Join us at Framingham High School! We perform at 2pm. There are 7 other schools performing that day. It will be a full day of theatre that creates long lasting memories!
