Welcome to the 5th Annual 2022 Commonwealth Choral Invitational!  We’re excited to return to hosting this great event and are looking forward to having you at our school.  Also known as CCI, this event consists of 3 days of Choral Performances, in multiple divisions.  Thursday, February 24th will feature standstill choirs (Acapella, Chamber, Treble Chamber and Concert).  Friday, February 25th will feature single-gender Show Choirs and Saturday, February 26th will feature mixed-gender Show Choirs.

In accordance with Chesterfield County’s approved guidelines for Show Choir Competitions in 2022, we will arrange the competition schedule in Performance Blocks, each with a limited number of schools to enable appropriate opportunity for social distancing.  Only performers from the schools assigned to a Performance Block and audience members with tickets to that Block will be allowed into the auditorium during that block. Those without tickets can watch a livestream of the auditorium in the Commons just outside.  After all groups have performed in a block, the auditorium will be cleared before the next block begins  We plan to live stream awards ceremonies at the end of each day.

COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies

  • Masks are required at CCI as a private, invitational and optional event.  For the safety of all attendees and volunteers we ask that you observe this rule and help ensure that we limit any potential spread of COVID-19 among participants or to their loved ones who are not at the event.
  • Per the approved county guidelines for choral events, performers will remain masked at all times when not engaged in active performance or warm-up.  Performers may remove masks for their warm-up in the warm up room. Students should stand at least 6 feet apart while warming up. Masks are put back on as they walk to the stage.  Once their performance time begins, performers may remove their mask and then place it back on when finished and exiting the stage.
  • Audience members must remain seated during their slot and are expected to wear masks at all times. We are reducing the capacity of the auditorium to allow for greater social distancing between parties.  General Admission ticketholders are expected to social distance and leave at least 1 seat between themselves and another party.
  • Capacity in the auditorium will be limited to increase social distancing opportunities in the audience.  Please reinforce with your students and audience members that they need to allow at least one seat between parties.

Ticketing and Reserved Seats

  • General admission tickets will be sold for all Performance Blocks.  The amount of tickets we are selling will be reduced to allow for greater social distancing.  We encourage you to ensure your parents and supporters buy their tickets early to ensure they can see the show.
  • For Friday and Saturday performances, there will be a reserved section in the auditorium for performing students to watch the shows if they choose.  CCI strongly believes students should get the opportunity to watch other groups perform, so encourage your students to take advantage of this.  We will also be live streaming the event to the Commons for those who cannot get a seat.
  • We will mark areas of the auditorium for different schools so that school communities can sit together.
  • As of now, tickets will NOT be sold at the door, in accordance with the approved county event guidelines.  Please encourage your community to purchase tickets in advance while supplies last.  As noted above, we will be limiting capacity in the auditorium.
  • Each performing school will be allotted 4 complimentary tickets to the auditorium seats, which can be picked up at event check in

Food, Drink & Merchandise

  • No food and drink are allowed to be brought into the event.  No Exceptions.  Food and packaged concessions will be available for sale, with details to be provided in the future.  We recommend students bring cash for concessions.  Please encourage your audience members and participants to support our program through concessions sales.
  • Please remind your students and audience members that food and drink are NOT allowed in the TDHS auditorium, but can be enjoyed in the commons area where we will have a livestream of the show.  Please help us keep our theater clean and enjoyable throughout the event.

We look forward to seeing our students get back on the stage - it's been too long and we know the kids are excited!  Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
