About The Thanksgiving Play
Written by Larissa FastHorse
Directed by Casey Watkins
Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of terminally “woke” teaching artists scrambles to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American History Month. Punctuated by offensive (and completely real) Thanksgiving songs from educators and social media, The Thanksgiving Play is a hilarious satiric jab at political correctness, social wokeness, and cultural assumptions.
The Thanksgiving Play is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

TheatreUNCA
For UNC Asheville’s Drama Department, the stage is our lab. Through the department’s mainstage productions, TheatreUNCA, independent productions, and professional internship opportunities, drama majors test the theories and practices they study in the classroom in theatrical presentations for the public. We embrace experimentation and collaboration to produce creative and knowledgeable theatre artists who understand their responsibilities to their community, their art, and their own personal growth.
