James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Since our inception our mission has been to enrich the Farmington Valley community by producing affordable and entertaining, quality theater, supporting arts education through our scholarship program and providing an outlet for creativity and community involvement.

We are proud to present a vibrant array of theatrical productions each year, including a Broadway-style musical in the fall, a captivating Spring Play, and engaging Staged Readings throughout the year. Our mission is to bring high-quality, live theater to the community, enriching the cultural landscape of Simsbury with performances that entertain, enlighten, and inspire.

Our operations are overseen by a committed Board of Directors, who ensure the smooth functioning of the Theatre Guild in all financial, legal, and technical matters, while also spearheading our advertising and community relations efforts. Their stewardship guarantees that our productions uphold the highest standards and that we continue to be a cherished community resource.

The Theatre Guild is funded through a combination of local business sponsorships, ticket sales, and the generosity of our patrons and donors. These contributions not only sustain our annual productions but also enable us to support the next generation of artists. Each year, we award a scholarship to a graduating senior from Simsbury High School who has shown exceptional talent in the performing arts.
