About The Last Class
After forty years and forty thousand students, Robert Reich had one lecture left to give.
The Last Class follows Robert Reich through his final semester at UC Berkeley, where one thousand students heard him teach "Wealth and Poverty" for the last time. Reich confronts his own aging with a candor he has never shown publicly, while pressing his students with the questions that have shaped his life: who do we want to be as a country, and what kind of democracy do we still have it in us to build?
We are screening The Last Class at a deliberate moment. As America celebrates its 250th anniversary this year, the questions Reich is asking his students are the questions the country itself is asking.
Ian Cheney, the film's Executive Producer and one of our favorite Maine filmmakers, will join us for a Q&A after the screening.
