Set in London in 1907, the story revolves around Monty Navarro, a penniless clerk. After the death of his mother, he receives shocking news: he is ninth in line to inherit the earldom of Highhurst, which is controlled by the wealthy D’Ysquith banking family. Determined to secure his place in the aristocracy, Monty hatches a cunning plan. His goal? To eliminate the eight D’Ysquith family members who stand between him and the title. These unfortunate relatives meet their demise in various creative and humorous ways, all while Monty navigates love, murder, and the complexities of social climbing.
