A MARRIAGE HAS BEEN ARRANGED 

Marriage Has Been Arranged (1904) is a one-act play by British author and dramatist Alfred Sutro. The play premiered at the Garrick Theatre, in London, on March 27, 1904, with Arthur Bourchier playing the role of Mr. Harrisson Crockstead and Violet Vanbrugh as Lady Aline de Vaux.

The play presents a single scene in which Mr. Crockstead, a self-made millionaire, proposes marriage to the noble but penniless young Lady Aline de Vaux, who refuses to marry him but eventually changes her mind after Crockstead makes the girl a strange, unusual offer. It is classified as a comedy of society.

THE OPEN DOOR

The Open Door premiered in London in 1912. The setting, the drawing room of Lord Torminster's cottage by the sea. Lady Torminster comes upon Sir Geoffrey sitting alone. The two begin to talk and express their love for each other, but their duties in life will not allow them to be together. In 1930, The Open Door was produced on Broadway at the Civic Repertory Theatre with acting greats, Eva La Gallienne and Donald Cameron.

The Park Theatre

The Park Theatre first opened in Jaffrey in 1922 and was the center of community life as a movie and vaudeville house for 54 years until it closed in 1976. Purchased by The Park Theatre in 2006, it is being rebuilt as a state-of-the-art film and performing arts center, featuring two auditoriums seating 450, presenting movies, live theatre, including children’s productions, concerts, and lectures as well as offering a place for business and community gatherings for the Monadnock Region and its 100,000 residents, school districts and dynamic artistic community.
