A family celebrates the sixty-fifth birthday of plantation owner Big Daddy. The mood is somber, despite the festivities, because a number of evils poison the gaiety: greed, sins of the past and desperate, clawing

hopes for the future spar with one another as the knowledge that Big Daddy is dying slowly makes the rounds. Maggie wants to give Big Daddy the news that she's finally become pregnant by his favorite son, Brick, but Brick won't cooperate in her plans. Swarming around them are their intrusive, conniving relatives, all eager to see Maggie put in her place and Brick tumbled from his position of most-beloved son.

The Mariemont Players, Inc

Mariemont Players, Inc. (MPI) is one of Cincinnati’s oldest and most successful community theaters. Our all-volunteer organization delivers high quality live theater entertainment at affordable prices. MPI stages 6 productions a year (a new play every 2 months). There’s loads of variety in our shows - from hilarious comedies to exciting musicals to challenging mysteries and thrilling dramas. We’re proud to say that our shows, actors and directors have won many awards, but more importantly our audiences keep coming back, season after season, for some of the best live theater in Greater Cincinnati.

The Players were organized over 85 years ago as a church group that performed plays in Mariemont, Ohio. In 1960 we bought the historic Plainville four-room school building at the intersection of Walton Creek and Muchmore Roads, between Mariemont and Terrace Park, and turned it into our Walton Creek Theater. The original building’s cornerstone was laid in 1869, but the present solid brick building dates from 1910. We’re one of the few local community theaters with a permanent home. Parking is free next to the building. We’re also handicap accessible with an elevator to the theater auditorium and a handicap accessible restroom. No matter where you sit in our intimate auditorium, you won’t miss a line - there’s not a bad seat in the house.

Join us for the excitement of opening night – with a meet-the-cast reception after the show. The curtain goes up for evening performances on Thursdays through Sundays for three weekends. Tickets may be purchased by phone, online or by mail. So you don’t miss a show, contact our box office at 513-501-1718 and order a season subscription.
