Director
Darren Hengst
Mr Hengst is in his 9th year and is now the Grace and Mahlon Buck Chair in Performing Arts at the Haverford School. He is thrilled to be back working with the students on this production after a Covid year kept the theatre dark. Mr. Hengst teaches Theater Classes in the Upper School. He graduated with an MFA from the University of Illinois @ Urbana Champaign’s Professional Actor Training Program. A member of Actor’s Equity for almost 20 years, Mr. Hengst has performed on Philadelphia stages for the past 15 years. Some of his favorites productions were “Of Mice and Men” and “Les Miserables” at The Walnut Street Theater and “Sunday in the Park with George” and “Winesburg Ohio” at the Arden Theatre Company. Mr. Hengst is also a professional fight director and has directed stage combat scenes for numerous Philadelphia productions. He loves watching his students discover their passions in the Performing Arts and how the faculty works so hard to support and help them flourish on the stage. All his love to his wife Jacquellyne and his 3 children.
