Family Improv Meets Occupations Cast
Jason Ghormley (Sci-Fi Geek)Jason’s been performing in improv shows since 2017. Most of Jason’s working career has been in the semiconductor engineering field and so he enjoys improv mostly as a excuse for an adult to be spontaneous and play! He loves Sci-Fi / Fantasy and his main hobby is making memes. Originally from Amarillo Texas, in the middle of no-where, which explains his interest in widely different areas.
Mary Ann Ghormley (7th of 10 children)Mary Ann started going to improv shows over 15 years ago. Since the players seemed to have so much fun, she was motivated to start taking classes in 2014. Since being in shows since 2016, she has learned a lot about teamwork and thinking creatively. Her hobbies include exercise, reading books and having a good belly laugh at least once a week
Ralph White (The Tall One)Ralph fell in love with improv comedy several years ago. He started taking improv classes to add fun to his life. After an Air Force career, and working in the corporate world, he needed to get out of his box. Improv teaches the spontaneity Ralph needed. He joined Family Improv about 12 years ago. Surrounding himself with funny, encouraging, and creative people really improved his quality of life. We should all take time to laugh; it’s good for the soul.
Kristy Bertelson (Avid Reader)Improv came into Kristy’s life by way of her amazing students. She has been teaching drama to homeschoolers for over a decade and she has loved incorporating improv into her classes. Family Improv has been a huge help to her students along the way and she is grateful to be part of the team to enjoy the fun.
Mary Kim (Dog Lover)Mary Kim became interested in improv after attending an improv show at The Second City in Chicago right after graduating from college when she was on an acting road tour. Many years later, she had the opportunity to attend an improv class and really enjoyed it. Mary Kim loves improv because it requires living in the moment, which is great for the soul! She joined Family Improv in 2018 and has been actively involved ever since.
Kris Kahle (Always up for a road trip … or a trip to the mall)
Kris recently appeared on two episodes of TLC’s Long Lost Family and discovered that unscripted dialogue did not come easy for her. Enter improv classes. And a fondness for off-the-cuff chatter was born. Recently retired, she’s found that she works harder now than ever before. Author of two books and currently working on number three.
Joshua Bellinghausen (The Young One)Joshua started his improv journey with a class in 2017 at his homeschooling co-op and never looked back. Since then, he has worked with various groups and has been with Family Improv since 2022. Joshua loves improv for so many reasons but they can all be summed up in one word, life. Improv is a beautiful, hysterical, microcosm of life. And it is that microcosm that's made Joshua the man he is today.
James Works (What’s the deal with that guy?))
James loves Family Improv because it allows some of the people running around in his head the chance to come out to play. Improv is teaching him to create in the moment and to rely on and follow his teammates. James’ wife and three kids have all done improv as well! When not doing improv James loves to mountain bike, sail, watch British detective shows, read, and watch his kids perform on stage.
Francine Bruggers (Doc)
Francine has studied, performed, and taught mime and dance throughout the years. She has her Masters in Dance and has taught mime at the University of Houston, Arkansas, and High School for Performing Arts in Houston. She has always loved to laugh and adding improv to her skills has been an incredible journey. She is one of the newest members of this troupe and has now had to learn to use words instead of mime to be funny. Francine is currently practicing chiropractic and tries to bring laughter to her patients each day in her office.
